It came right up to the front door! I thought this was the best picture to show you how much snow we received last night. Now to get busy making paths and sweeping off cars with a broom.

We got about 12" and then that drifted. Crazy stuff. My side door was really hard to open this morning. Shoot even the covered front porch had inches of snow on it.
Stay safe and warm!
it's crazy isn't it Cheryl. ...husband said a foot and a half but I'm thinking 10 or 12 inches. The wind blew really hard so it may have drifted. Probably did.
Sounds like you got a lot of snow! I keep thinking of Little House, The Long Winter where they had to make a tunnel to the barn. Be careful out there!
Yes You know I loved that book ..should read it again. They were survivors that's for sure.
We have tunnels everywhere too!
Charlie has gone to our daughter-in-law's mom to try to help thaw her water pipes.
My neighbor is coming by so that I can carry water from my kitchen sink to the front door to help water her horses. Her outside pipes are all frozen.
And all the power companies are doing rolling blackouts because they can't keep up. With such a wide spread cold the companies usually borrow power from each other...but the whole south is freezing right now. And the south does not build homes for deep freezes so everyone's water pipes are freezing without power to keep them heated.
Thankfully we are prepared. I'm ready if I lose power or water but my fear is a burst water pipe. So hopefully the power will stay on. We're all conserving energy & only using what we have to at the moment.
It's cold but he sun is shining for the first time in about ten days!!!
The sun is so nice when it comes out. We can handle anything with the sun.
What a disaster this weather is. I think it we are going to have such extreme weather conditions we need to upgrade our infrastructures soon.
I'm glad you all are looking out for each other.
11" and drifts, current temp is -2. We be cold! hahaha
You are cold!!! So glad we are warm in our houses!
Yes, it scares me that we're cutting off old power methods before we have anything new in place. I read that the wind mills in Texas froze so they were useless during this storm.
We have wind turbines here in Michigan and they work during the cold weather with our cold weather...we were -18 this morning and they were running strong. They have a special heating element in them for cold weather. Maybe they didn't put that package into their wind turbines in Texas. I know that Alaska uses them too. Definitely something to think about!
