How I Saved this Week, Grocery Deals, Curbside Shopping, Cooking

Here are the ways I saved this past week.

Grocery Deals:

It's been harder at the grocery store to find and get a deal but I make sure to shop the sales and bargains.  This past week I bought two turkeys at Meijer's for 33 cents a pound (we will save the other one).

I was a little worried about this sale not happening what with the news telling everyone that turkeys were in short supply.  Anyway, my turkey's were about 15 pounds and they cost me approximately $5.00 to $6.00 a piece.

At Save a Lot I found this pint of blackberries for $1.00 off and a good deal on some tomatoes! In my mind I was going to make BLT's this coming week with some of the bacon we have in the freezer (we found a sale on bacon before prices skyrocketed).  So, with BLT on my mind I went down the aisle to buy some lettuce and it was $3.00 a head.  Surely this was a mistake.  Surely.

Listen, whether or not it was a fluke, we will have now have BT's, ha ha.  You just make it work.  That's all we can do.

Cooking: Finding a Way to eat it

We are now on the keto diet.  Let me say there is no way we are perfect but we are now better eaters than we were before.  I was excited to see a Keto Cinnamon Swirl Loaf at the store and could just imagine the taste. The price was high (above $4.00) but for a treat I figured I would go for it.  Let me say, it wasn't that good so I made french toast with the whole loaf and then froze it for future breakfasts.  The cinnamon and low carb pancake syrup covers up the eggy taste very well.

Curbside Shopping:

We went curbside shopping and found a Shop Vac, 2 Razor electric scooters with chargers for the grandchildren, a plant stand, and a organizer thing for the husband.  Shop Vac works great but the scooters will probably need a battery before they use them next Spring.

How did you do this week?  Any deals?

FYI:  I'm now posting low cost and free Kindle books throughout the day on my facebook page here:  https://www.facebook.com/vickieskitchenandgarden

Turkeys are sold out at some stores here and other stores have plenty. We did the iBotta deal and I got referral so our turkey was 57 cents after the $15 rebate. Now I am kind of nervous about the ham situation for Christmas and I usually put some away for future use. I don't want to jump too soon and pay too much.

That grandgirl sure has grown! The scooters will sure be fun. Thanks for the Facebook link. I will be watching for some new books!

I'm nervous about the ham too Lana! I'm thinking I'm going to wait it out like I did the turkey. Hopefully the deal will be there. Really though you didn't pay too much for the turkey ..I've seen them for much more on sale.
Is Ibotta worth it? Is it too much trouble? I'm thinking about it more but if it's a lot of work you know..

My 57 cents for the whole turkey made iBotta worth it for this month for sure! In the last month we have cashed out around 90 dollars in rebates! But, then we may go for a couple of months and just add a bit here and there. Hubby and I both have it so we get the good deals doubled. All the free Thanksgiving foods at Walmart we got twice. Walmart is the easiest since you just scan the barcode and it has the receipt uploaded. Others I have to take the pictures of and it is not too bad. The thing that takes time is finding and checking off the offers. I generally do that when I am doing things like waiting in the car while Hubby is in Home Depot, etc. You can scan every item as you put it in your cart and it will show any offers but that would drive me nuts. If you join right now you could take advantage of the free Thanksgiving items at Walmart. I would love it if you used my husband's referral code so that he can get the turkey rebate, too. It is swygqvg. Once you download the app you can go to Walmart and see your list of free items.

Lana, I'm glad you clarified that you just spent 57 cents for the whole turkey! I thought ..well it doesn't matter what I thought. ha ha. I'm going to use your referral. I follow some couponers on youtube and they do a a lot of ibotta for Walgreens. So I'll get with it. Not sure I'll do the Walmart thing..I don't have anymore room for turkeys but I'll sign up. thanks!

There are turkeys every where here and from .29/lb. upwards. Now is the time to get them - shoot can't buy lunch meat that cheap. I like to buy Romaine or the little bundles of lettuce (still have roots) - I get them when they clearance and they tend to last pretty long.
You sure got some nice curb shopping.
Have a great week

You are so right about the lettuce..it seems if though you don't open it that it will last longer.
Curbside shopping was so fun.
Have a great week too Cheryl
