Frugal Friday

Just a few of the products we bought at an estate sale.

We stopped at an estate sale this past week.  Didn't find anything big but we spent $11.00 on these household essentials:

A full bottle of carpet steam cleaner

Large full bottle of Drano (already used 1/2 on daughters basement drain)

a couple of bottles of small engine oil

A couple of Christmas tins

A new lighter

2 flashlights

Some brand new insoles for shoes

FYI:  An estate sale is usually held after a person has passed away and the estate sells their possessions that the family doesn't want. They open up the house and outbuildings for you to go through.  Everything is marked.  Although it's warm (60 degrees yesterday) there haven't been any garage sales in awhile but anything is possible here LOL. It's supposed to snow a little bit for Christmas.

Other ways we saved:

We fixed the oven (we put in a new coil thing amajig).  Took just $10 (we had a credit) and 15 minutes to install.

Made a pan of biscuits and some No bake cookies (we are off the diet till after Christmas).

I won a book! Whoo hoo!  I stayed up all night reading till 2 in the morning and it so was worth it. I'll have to write a review soon.

It feels good to go back to the canning shelf and grab something I canned from the garden.  I added a small pint jar of tomatoes to  leftover spaghetti sauce to have enough for a second dinner of baked spaghetti.  One day I used up the leftover hotdogs with my canned sauerkraut and boiled potatoes.  Slowly but surely it gets used.

I decided to clean my house myself and not hire a maid LOL.  The struggle is real.

The struggle is real! If I could get someone in here to clean before Christmas it sure would help but I am too cheap!

We cashed out another $28 from iBotta making this month $59 so far. I have gotten two $25 gift cards from Swagbucks so far this month. We got many freebies at the grocery store and lots of great deals on cheese. Our cheese supply runneth over but 8 ox bags of shredded cheddar for 63 cents and a whole pound block of Galbani Mozzarella for 99 cents times two are deals I can't pass up. Also free bags of Chrunchmaster crackers and 20 cent packs of brioche rolls. Five boxes of Cakebites at 50 cents each. I saw three cutting boards on Amazon for 10.99 and ordered those. They have been on my list but a small cheapie one is 8.99 at Walmart and I refuse to pay that for such junk. Yesterday at the grocery store I heard people say on more than one occasion that they were not paying the price for whatever they were looking at and put it back on the shelf. Really, who can afford such prices? I am thankful we have the discount stores. Last Saturday we hauled home a whole lot of groceries for $23 but really the list escapes me after nearly a week.

I must get to baking. Our company arrives on Tuesday so my time is short.

Have a great weekend!

I've said that too in the stores. Nope we don't need it LOL. You got a lot of great deals Lana! Ibotta really helps..I think I'll be using more of it after Christmas. Enjoy your family and have a Merry Christmas

It feels good to be able to use what I grew too and they do taste much better than the store. Have a great day Cheryl.

Vickie well done on picking up so much from the estate sale and also cleaning your own home without hiring someone :) . So tempting I think we all want to do that at one time or another.
