Pantry Challenge and Menu 1/4/22!

We are going to start a pantry challenge this week.  That means we will be eating mostly from the pantry.  We will be spending some money on grocery staples that I don't have from my freezers or garden.

So far, I've bought 24 pounds of apples for $10 through Flash Food and I also bought a roast with the fixings for $8.00 that I'm getting this morning.  I couldn't pass it up!

Our menu this week mostly using up what we already have:

Monday     daughter bought pizza.

Tuesday      Chicken noodle soup with canned chicken (that I have under the bed)

Wednesday
Hamburgers and Low Carb Buns (both in the freezer)

Thursday     That roast w/fixings

Friday          Spaghetti and Salad (There is a half head of lettuce in the fridge plus carrots, and some radishes)

Saturday      Fajitas (a made ahead meal)

Sunday        Chicken wings, mashed potatoes (potatoes from garden), and  green beans canned from the garden.

Breakfasts will be oats, egg sandwiches (husband loves ham), and  waffles on Saturday.  Lunch, well you are on your own.

Total spent this week so far $18.00.  I'll be updating you each Tuesday to let you know our grocery bill. By then we will need Milk and other staples so it will be higher.

Are you doing a pantry challenge or maybe even a low or no Spend January?   How's it coming along?

We are doing more stocking up here. I increased the grocery budget a bit to allow for it. I did plan my January menu for the month with the purpose of using up some things that need to go.

Hope it turns out well for you! We can't do without the milk and fresh veggies here either!

I want to restock too. Seems like I'm much better now on only stocking up on what I'll use. The sugar in our pantry is rock hard from not using it..which is good. Maybe I'll make some grape jelly though to use that bag up.

Wow, what a great deal on the Flash Food app! I am off to check it out.

Flash food is a huge savings for us. Hope you find a great deal. I make sure to check multiple locations.

What is Flash Foods? Now you have me curious as I have never heard of it.

It's mostly through Meijer if you have one near you. I haven't seen any for another store. You download the app and they have food near the expiration date that they have marked down. Great discounts if you can get it. We have about 4 in our vicinity and I'm finding meat and veg/fruits there. If you go to that link you'll find out how to get $5.00 off $10 on your first order.

No Meier here but I hope other states will do this.

Me too Lana, too much food goes in the landfill and this helps the consumer also.

I loved your no spend January. It inspired me to try it. I will work on the pantry and freezer now.

I wish you well Peggy!
