Frugal Saturday 7/8/23

We stopped at two rummage sales that had quit and gave away the rest of their stuff for free.  I found these three Lodge cast-iron pans and husband found brand new weather tech floor mats.  We had so much fun.  There were a couple of things that we picked up that we had second thoughts about and we put those in a box out by our house.  They were picked up by someone in a couple of hours too.

We had a hole in our garden where the corn didn't come up and we planted our seed potatoes we didn't use up in June.  They will be small because of the time we have left before first frost but I plan on canning them for stews, etc.

It's cool here where we live in Michigan and our air condtioner is off.

We took a trip up north and stopped by our favorite meat market on the way back.  We made sure to take  our biggest cooler so we could fill it up with good sales.  One of the deals was a bag of chicken nuggest for around $11.00.  I plan to give some to our daughter to put in her freezer.

We went to Mackinac Island  for a short trip (this is why we save) and walked to the secret garden by the grand hotel.   I know that there are many gardeners that will appreciate the flower picture.   It's beautiful and I'm glad we found it (with the help of a grounds keeper).  The weather there was a perfect 70 degrees (40 at night).

What ways have you saved this past week?

What a find on the cast iron and Weather tech! That garden is gorgeous and I'm so glad you were able to see it. We are heading to the salvage grocery this morning. I hope they have the Pepperidge Farm bagels for $1.

Oh that garden is just beautiful! The flowers are gorgeous, and how special that it is a secret garden. Glad you had a wonderful getaway.
Great finds on the cast iron and floor mats too.

Kathy, they made it so pretty -they have many greenhouses to help them with the flowers. Beautiful island!

I have no idea why my post showed up as Anonymous but it was Lana. Our little salvage store has become so crowded but we did find 5# of frozen cubed potatoes for $3 and got #3 of link sausage for 3.96 and one bag of bagels which I was glad to find. Now If I just had another freezer!

I had a feeling that was out Lana. You got some great deals! Another freezer would be great for all the deals for sure.

Oh my gosh! Free cast iron, what a score! I'm so excited for you. We went to one sale and the gentleman running the sale said everything was a quarter and then he said, "No, you can have it 10 for $1.00!" LOL The yard sales are so much fun for us.

Oh, how nice that it is cool enough to turn off your air conditioning. We really like the smaller potatoes these days. I roast them in the oven and then smash them a little with my meat chopper, so the edges get crispy. Delicious!

The flowers from Mackinac Island are beautiful. Sounds like a fun trip.

Belinda, you guys sound like us about garage sales-it's entertainment for sure!
We are still cool -last night we were able to turn off fans and cover up! I think we are going back to hot tomorrow.
