Fall colors, The Dying garden, Sewing, and the Dreaded First Freeze!

We had a beautiful drive up north to places like Lumberman's Monument and Iiargo Falls.  This is the overlook at Lumberman's Monument.   I love the Fall!

The grandkids love Ben Franklin's in East Tawas the most but they did love hiking to see the view.

We had a freeze- it was in the upper twenties (our first this year).   I'm glad I was able to pick one more bouquet that day for a special birthday person.

It came a rain the last few days ..quite a down pour from the hurricane in Mexico (they are in my ever growing list of people to pray for).    I will pick the seed when it dries up more.

I hear snow is coming next week...

Now, don't get me wrong things are still growing and doing just fine.  The fall mustard greens are coming along.  There is a debate around here, between husband and wife, whether these will get big enough for me to can before they die off with the winter weather.  He says they will make it...I'm not so sure.

There is also lettuce growing and I was able to pick enough this week for a salad, that some how disappeared from the fridge in the middle of the night.  At least someone is eating healthy.

I have been sewing a few doll clothes for my granddaughter.  So far, I've sown a handbag and a dress.  Now, I'm working on a doll quilt.  All of my patterns came from a book (that I hope to get her started on soon) are in Sew in Style-Make Your Own Doll Clothes.   I love that it came with full sized patterns and step by step instructions for newbies like her.  So, we will work on it in the winter.  Right now it's Fall gardening season at school and Halloween fun.  A girl can only do so much.  LOL

We will have our first freeze on Wednesday night next week. It is the end of it all here. Your granddaughter will treasure those doll clothes. That is really surprising that you got rain from the hurricane way up there!

Hi Vickie-Oh, that doll outfit with the shoulder bag! Froze up here too in Northern Wisconsin-HIGHS next week in the lower 30's. Brrrr. I am happy we've gotten all the outdoor chores done (always alot to do before winter-cleaning up,storing away, raking, cleaning gutters-endless!). Not as easy as it once was but we get 'er done! Have a great weekend everyone!

Lana, it was crazy..there was just a sprinkle predicted and we got a downpour that last all night. The weather is crazy!
I hope she loves them..her birthday is soon.
Have a great day

Nancy, husband has gotten most of those outside chores done. Cutter cleaning, putting things up etc.) You are ahead of us in leaf raking though -we just barely had to rake so far. Halloween will be a trick instead of a treat.

The view of the water and trees is lovely. Our first freeze comes next week and the rains start this weekend and are supposed to last for a few days.
I still have doll clothes my mom made - that will be a treasure for your grand daughter.

Cheryl, so far your weather is pretty close to ours. Rain is come and go now making it hard to do a lot. I think that's cool that you still have the doll clothes your mom made. What a treasure for sure!

I hope she'll love them. I hid them when she is here so she'll be surprised on her birthday. This weekend they are here more so I haven't been able to work on them. I'm ready to get back with it tommorrow morning!
