I've been busy making Thanksgiving. Made my husband's favorite apple pie on Saturday and we have enjoyed it! Monday I made cornbread and then yesterday I made biscuits for the turkey dressing. I served a few each day to go along with dinner. I also made a cake for a family's birthday and froze it till I can decorate it on Wednesday evening. You know, once you got that oven going you think I might as well stick in this (and eat it).
Today, I hope to make pecan pie and another round of cornbread for the stuffing. Both will go good with our bbq ribs for dinner. We were in Frankenmuth last week and bought pecan pie in a jar. Doesn't that sound like heaven? I'll let you know.
FYI: We aren't like going hog wild but our low carb diet is off till Friday.
On other news: I went to the store last night when a light bulb went off and I realized I needed shortening for all these pies and the cake frosting. What is wrong with me. I guess I don't use much shortening any more so I didn't think. Anyhow, I bought the last can. The last can....People if you decide to start cooking on Wednesday you better have everything you need!
What have I got to be thankful for this year?
Family is number 1. Everyone is healthy and going strong.
We found husband's wallet! Ok, he found his wallet. The chicken's scratched it up and it was laying by a pumpkin I threw in the garden.
I'm in a nice warm house and I have food to eat.
You, my readers for coming back and listening to me ramble!
Blessings!
What are you thankful for this year?

Oh yay on the wallet! Crazy thing today at the grocery was no buttermilk at Aldi so we went to another grocery store and they only had it by the GALLON! Seriously I had no idea they even put buttermilk in gallons but I suspect this is just something weird going on with the supply chain. We will be freezing it in quarts.
oh no a gallon of buttermilk. Yep probably can't get any help at the processing plant. Good idea to freeze in quarts. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
No stores for me this week - no stores of any kind if I can help it. Maybe the orchard on Friday - maybe not! LOL
All your goodies sound yummy.
Just so happy for family, home, food, my kitties and decent finances.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Sounds wonderful..My Kitty I forgot how thankful I am for him!
Have a wonderful day Cheryl!
I've seen those pies in a jar in Frankenmuth and always wondered how they would taste. Now I'll wait for your verdict. Have a happy Thanksgiving. Ann
Ann the jar made one big pie or two smaller ones. We ate one (4 of us) the other is in the fridge for tomorrow. Let me tell you he can't wait till tomorrow. So delicious! So it was $18.00 add in $2.00 more dollars for the pie crust ingredients, eggs, and butter for two smaller pies. Lots of pecans too. Well worth it and we would do it again. Maybe though I should try a deep dish pie pan next time..debating on that.
Have a happy Thanksgiving too.
Thanks. Next trip to Frankenmuth, I'm going to get one and try it. Ann
Happy Thanksgiving! About light bulbs.... I went to Walmart to try to replace one last week. I left empty handed. Lights bulbs are too difficult to buy these days!!!! There are so many different kinds!
I'm with you! There are two paper bags full of different kinds of light bulbs in my pantry. I'm confused and hope to go through them after Thanksgiving. Have a Happy Thanksgiving too!
