I've had some great success with filling my gift closet this past week. Last night at the Car Show I won this bear. I wanted to give it to my granddaughter right away but in the end I've decided to keep it as a present for her next years birthday or Christmas.  It's just so cute.

We had a great time looking at the cars plus they gave you things at each display table like pens, candy, and wipes for your hand.

I used the $10 off 10 coupon I received in the mail for JC Penny.  I bought two shirts and one pair of shorts for the grand kids and just paid $3.00.    The shirts will be presents for next year's Christmas.

I have been sewing and crafting to keep me from going crazy busy during our recent snowstorms. I used material I had on hand to make cute tissue holders.  Now my tissues will look so much better coming out of my purse.  They are quick to make so I also made some for daughter and for small presents.

I also made the grand children a game to play called, Peanut Butter and Jelly (no sewing).  I used what felt I had on hand so the grape jelly became strawberry jelly.  I used one of the grand daughter's building blocks and then used the hot glue gun to apply the pieces for the dice.  The 3 year old loved this game and we played our version of the game multiple times.  Now, on the other hand, the 8 year old thought he was way too old to be playing this game!

There were reports with the cold weather of outrageous energy bills so we were a bit nervous about our bill for this last month.  We were diligent about turning off lights, keeping the temperature  in the house at a good level, and dressing warm but we were nervous all the same.  We were so happy that it was much lower then expected (it pays to turn off the lights)!

I started growing sweet potato vines this past week.   If you can look behind them and out the window you can see all the snow we have gotten piled on top of our picnic table.  We are receiving more snow as I'm writing this.

My daughter was going to Kroger and said she was just going to buy the just one of the butters they had on sale for $1.99 on Saturday.  I gave her the money to buy me the other 4 that she could buy with the same coupon.  I saved a trip and money!

I was able to complete some surveys through Swagbucks.   I haven't qualified for a survey in quite awhile so this surprised me (I'm usually too old and boring).  I also searched, watched videos, shopped, played games, and took the daily poll.  I allow myself about 30 minutes in the morning.

Menu Plan for this next week:

Some of these are from last week - with the cold we changed the menu plan last week and I made stews and chili instead.

Monday              Tator Tot Casserole

Tuesday              Hamburgers and french fries

Wednesday         leftovers

Thursday            Out to eat

Friday                 Sausage and sauerkraut, corn, and fried

Saturday             Ham and cheese omelettes

Sunday               Baked Chicken, potatoes, mustard greens, and biscuits.

My goals for This Week:

I was forced in to organizing the shelf in the front closet when all the games fell on my head.  I need to buy one storage box but I'm looking for a deal so a cardboard box will do for now.  My deal may be at a garage sale this Spring!

I still need to start Spring Cleaning the guest room so I'll be doing that this week.

What are the ways you've saved this past week?
