My Frugal Ways this Past Week 1/20/19!

It finally snowed about 4 inches here yesterday. We have been a little deficient on snow this winter but we have had rain. This storm blew in extremely cold air. Right now we are at 10 degrees with a -11 wind chill and it supposed to get colder.  It's something to get use to after the good weather we've had so far. The woolly worm was absolutely right this year!

Here are the ways I've saved money and improved our household this week:

I sold 2 items on Facebook -We used the money from one sale to eat out last Sunday when everyone was here (KFC) and the other money we used toward the grocery bill

Cleaned out portions of the pantry and freezer.   I found napkins, paper towel, and butter in the freezer!

I put on a pocket to finishing sewing my apron.   This was all done with material I had on hand and using an apron I had for a pattern.  This was my trial apron and I hope to make more soon.

I watched youtube to find out how to improve my tension while knitting.   I'm getting better, I think.

I've had little trouble with my yarn this past week. While she was here, the granddaughter cut my yarn in two and then the cat dragged it all over the living room multiple times. I love them both but I was at the point of giving up.  I calmed down the next day and after talking to a good friend, I excitedly put the project in a covered basket, like she suggested. The lid doesn't lock though and the cat proudly showed me this morning how he got into it. He was happily wagging his tail, sigh.   I guess I'll find a ribbon to tie it up with or something.

I made yogurt and I'm making waffles this morning to freeze ahead.

Thanks to a comment a light bulb went off and I decided to freeze the leftover soup beans. Thanks for the suggestion.

Goals

Life got in the way last week and I didn't start learning the mandolin or  work on the antique sewing machine.  I hope to get to that this week.

Make blackberry Jelly with the bag of blackberries I have in the freezer.  It will be a small batch, from the berries in my garden but it will be good!

What are the ways you've saved this past week?
