A Stranger On My Land - A Christmas Romance of Love and Loss on Lookout Mountain by Sandra Merville Hart
Stranger on My Land is a historical romance book, that takes us back to the Civil War era. We find Carrie who is left in charge of her brother and her ailing aunt, after her father is forced to enlist in the Confederate Army. As the war draws closer to her cabin she realizes they must leave to a safer place, a cave in the mountains.
Carrie is angry. She is angry at the North for the war that has taken her father away to fight against them, and angry at the South for taking her much needed horse.
After a fierce battle comes so close she can watch from above, she comes across a wounded soldier who needs her help. He looks like a gentlemen but could she find it in herself to help him? What would she do about her Aunt, who holds more bitterness than Carrie?
My thoughts:
Carrie speaks to me with her strength, her insecurities, her anger, and her protectiveness of her family. Everything you would go through if you were left in charge at a young age during the war.
I loved the way the author Sandra Merville Hart, describes the surroundings in such detail. With her descriptions of the cave, the battles, and the mountains, I felt as though I was taken back in time. She then gives you a romance story that will keep you flipping pages to find out the end.
A great read!
This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.
