Hamburger Stew

Anytime of year is really great for Hamburger Stew.  In the winter you can use your cans of vegetables harvested from last season's garden.  In the  summer when then the garden is full you can harvest them fresh. Either way Hamburger Stew is a delicious meal chocked full of great vegetables!

I always feel good when I'm able to use some of my bounty from last year's garden.   With this recipe I used a qt jar of my canned tomatoes and bag full of frozen corn.

I love the look of color when I'm chopping all the vegetables.  I think I've been blinded by white snow too long!

Tip:  Hamburger when you can get it on sale makes this stew cost effective but I've also been known to sneak in ground turkey instead.

Printable Recipe

1 Pd of  Hamburger
1 onion peeled and diced
2 stalks of celery chopped
1 qt of tomatoes
3 small potatoes (peeled and cut small)
3 medium carrots chopped
1 can of corn (I used my frozen corn)
1/2 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning
1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp of pepper

Brown the hamburger with the onions till done.   In the crock pot add hamburger plus the rest of the ingredients and stir.  Cook on high for 5 to 7 hours till vegetables are tender.
