My Frugal Ways this Past Week 7/26/15- 6 Ways I Made Use of My Garden Produce

I harvested banana peppers, cabbage,  tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers from the garden this past week. Every night I come out of the garden with a basket full of produce.

what I harvested last night
This is a portion of what I harvested last night.   Not in the picture are three huge zucchini that where hidden under the leaves.   I'm now making sure I wear my glasses when I go to the garden!

There isn't enough of any one thing to can so far.   Canning is in my near future though because the beans are hanging in knots and the tomato plants are loaded for bear. What we have harvested so far we have eaten or given away immediately!

Here are some of the ways that we've used our garden produce:

1.  Used the zucchini for spaghetti noodles and bread.
2.  Used the cabbage for coleslaw.
3.  Made tuna cucumber boats when I ran out of sourdough bread.
4.  Made multiple tomato sandwiches.
5.  Enjoyed just eating the cucumbers and tomatoes in slices.
6.  Blessed our church family with basket full of zucchini (they loved them)

Wonderful time of year!

My other frugal ways this Past Week

It's been beautiful here in Michigan.   The sun has been shining and it's been quite warm.  I was able to hang clothes to dry on the line many times this past week.

We bought 10 -32oz jars of Amish canned peaches in glass jars for $5.49 each.   Peaches are very high to buy fresh and then can.  So for us, this is the way to go. We have bought these before and they taste wonderful.

I'm taking much cooler showers lately.   It's been a lot warmer in our area but to tell the truth this has never before kept me from taking hot showers. I have just realized how wasteful I've been to use so much hot water.   Never too old I guess to rethink what you do!

What ways have you saved money this week?
