This Week at Our Home: Funny happenings in the Garden, Donuts, and the County Fair!

Leaf lettuce finally started growing in August!

A funny thing happened in Mom's old washtub this past week or so. The leaf lettuce I planted in the Spring started growing and is big enough to pick.  It's never too late according to the husband (he can just imagine wilted lettuce and cornbread).

Sugar baby watermelons -all six ripe the same day

Out in the big garden I decided to see how the watermelons were coming along.   Every single last one of them was ready on the same day.  They were small sugar baby watermelons.  It actually took all 6 to make it feel like a good sized watermelon.

As you can see by the green grass weeds it has been raining regularly and we might be out of the drought.

The grandchildren were over early one morning so I fried up some can of biscuit donuts. I haven't made these in quite awhile. I frosted some with chocolate frosting and coated the others with cinnamon sugar.  Apparently I need to learn how to put filling inside them according to wonderful grandson! See how you never quit learning

We had a great time at the fair this past week. The pony rides always bring memories back to me from when I was little.  They are always a favorite!

It's been a busy week here.  How has your week been?
