Went to the library before Christmas and checked out books to read over the holiday. I read as I cooked (don't worry everything turned out great)!
I read a digital magazine from the library's website for free.
I won a $25 gift certificate to a cake decorating store. I gave this to my daughter so that she can hopefully use it for bartering.
Bought a subway card for youngest daughter and got a free 6 inch sub coupon. She doesn't know about the coupon so I'm saving it for another day.
I cut the recipes in half for many of the sweet treats for Christmas. They all want their favorites but our family is small and I didn't want the leftovers hanging around for too long. I only made a half of a recipe for Maimee Eisenhower's million dollar fudge and still put some in the freeezer for later.
Frugal mistake
I wanted to go to JCPenny on Saturday and get the $10 off $10 coupon but I didn't realize that they opened at 7 a.m because of Christmas. Maybe in the end though this was a good thing, I'm sure I would have spent more than I needed to.
Menu plan for the week of 12/25/17
Monday Christmas Dinner (there was a last minute change -we had Au gratin potatoes)
Tuesday Leftover ham, Biscuits (frozen), corn, and shuck beans- I'll make hamburgers for the grandkids.
Wednesday Ham and cheese omelettes
Thursday Grilled Ham and cheese sandwiches
Friday Out to eat with a GC that was given to us
Saturday Lasagna
Sunday Leftovers
My goals for this next week:
Reuse the Christmas Cards we received
Clean the refrigerator
Start sewing/crafting more since the Christmas rush is over.
Make sure I list all my books I've read on Goodreads. I won't make it but I've gotten pretty close to my book challenge goal.
What are the ways you've saved this past week?
