My Grocery Shopping Deal this Week 6/22/19!

My sweetest deal this week was strawberries!  Meijer had them on sale for $1.88 for 2 quarts so I'm making a little more strawberry jam this morning.   I was lucky to get these, they have ran out everyday I've been there.

Funny thing happened,  right beside the sale on two quarts there were just 1 quart packages 2 for $4.00.  A couple was getting some and I was so surprised.  I had to open my big mouth and ask did they know that they could get 2 quarts for less than half that price.   Now I'm not sure if they couldn't do the math or if they thought the berries that were in the quart size packages were better grade berries.  I'm choosing to think the later one.  They did end up getting the bigger size (I made sure to leave them a couple).

What good deals did you buy at the grocery store this last week?

That was a great deal this week.
People amaze me. I open my mouth all the time at the store and tell people stuff like that - and most often they look at me like I am a crazy loon with horns. Such waste of money! Obviously they have more money than sense!

I am always amazed at the deals other shoppers pass up. I think many just shop out of habit and don't even look at the ads or look around them at other sizes, etc. We had strawberries for .99 a pound at Adli so I put 12 pkg in the freezer and made a strawberry pie. ALdi had canned veggies for .38 so we got a case of 12. Publix had Nature's Own buns BOGO and there was a $1 printable so we bought 4 packs of the butter buns for 40 cents each.

Hi Vickie and yes I see it all the time that shoppers will pick up specials at the end of the aisles on branded items and if they only went down the aisle could get the same thing in a generic brand (same quality) for under half the price. The supermarket marketing team do a good job of making expensive products look like a fantastic deal with large displays and great big colourful signs.

Good you picked up the strawberries at such a good price.

Our deals this week on half price clearance were 2 x 6 pk of hamburger buns, 2 x 6 pk of wholemeal buns and 2 x 6pk of hotdog buns saving $9.30 on usual prices. There is no way I can make wholemeal buns for $1.15 per 6 pk. I know which day they do their clearances which is a Monday now in this particular store.

Have a fantastic week ahead everyone and hope you all pick up some wonderful cheap items to fill your pantries with.

About making your own I think like that too Lorna. If I can get it cheaper already made I'm all for it anymore. Doing that saves time, money, and heating up the home with the oven.

I love that you found their day that they discount their items. I need to write the stores down and their days so I'll remember!
Have a great day!
