Happy New Year and My Goals for 2020!

Happy New Year!  You know for me it's that time that I take a look back on the previous year and see how I did on my goals then make some new ones.  I almost didn't want to look at my last years goals,  in fact I dreaded it!   I wouldn't even update them throughout the year because I knew it was not good.  Some years are like that- we are not perfect and I'm living proof!   Yep, I didn't make some of them but I've decided to not let that get me down and to keep trying.  That's the best we can do right?

My #1 goal is to be the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt I can.

Sometimes I fail but I keep trying!

2.  Get healthier, lose weight, and exercise!

We completely, I mean completely, fell off the bandwagon for losing weight.  I've maintained what I lost but it was amazing how much this goal was set by the wayside.  My goal is the same for this year and I hope we do better!

3.  Read 70 books this year and keep track on Goodreads.   I didn't make this goal this past year, I'm at 63 books.  I admit that  I wasn't the greatest at keeping track of the small books.  I'm trying again.

4.  Expand my horizons and learn something new.

One of my goals for last year were to repair and learn how to use the treadle machine and learn how to knit.

Last year: I did learn how to use it but the tension is a mess.
This year: My goal this year is to repair and have fun with it!

Last Year:  I did learn how to knit last year!  It was a lot of work to learn this skill but it's been fun!
This year:   Continue on and knit something useful!

5.  Grow more vegetables and do more winter sowing.

Last year:  Winter sowing didn't work out for me much last year but I did get some lettuce to grow.

This year:  I'll be trying winter sowing again but I was gifted a very tiny greenhouse!  This spring it will be so fun to experiment!

6.  I love my readers and I hope to keep improving this blog by:

I want to do more month long challenges - (any bloggers that want to join in let me know and we will tag each other).

My thoughts along this line are so far are:

Canning in Feb, sewing in March,  crafting In April, and gardening In June.

Thank you all for a great year!  You make me feel so good when you stop by to read my blog!

It's been one of my joys in life to have found your site a few years ago, I have learned so much. Your blog is the only one I follow every post. You have some good goals. I've never counted but I have had to have gotten at least close to a hundred or more kindle books from you, this year I will count. Happy New Years Vickie.

Vickie Happy New Year to you and yours :) .

You did well on your goals and got some accomplished that is the main thing. As I always say pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start again :) .

Our goals are to -
- Save a fully funded 3 month of living expenses emergency kitty.
- Save and hopefully paint the areas of the house/garage and tank stand shed that need it.
- Cut more firewood to fill up our lean-to shed so we have a few years in advance of wood.
- Price and save up to have a house stump replaced and have our home leveled.
- Cut down on living expenses so we can save more.
- Pay more off our home mortgage to save on interest and time on our loan.
- Learn a new skill, not sure what that will be yet :).
- Learn more about our new climate here and be better with gardening. We lost a few crops due to the heat here and different soils so I will slowly work it out by trying different things.
- Spend more quality time together as a husband and wife :).

All I can think of at the moment.

you have some great goals. That home leveling thing was been done to our house a couple of times when we repurchased it. So worth the cost.
Although our climate has changed here to it hasn't been has drastic. I watch a gardener, self sufficient me on youtube. Although he is in Australia he has some great hints. His climate might be totally different from yours though.
We go on dates in the fall and winter but in the summer we work too much..we need to work on that this year too.
Have a great year!

I kept up with books I read year before last. I’m determined to do that again this year. I have a lot of sewing projects I want to do this year. Your treadle machine is beautiful. Happy New Year!
