Our Grocery Shopping Trip for this Past Week 1/25/20- a Lower Spend January!

So, you ask, how are we doing on that no or low spend January?  Definitely not perfect.  We are running a lower spend January for sure but not as well as previous years.  We are saving money though and for that I'm proud of us.  Next year my hope is to get very serious again.

We went to Kroger and we had a little problem passing up the good deals and the clearance this week at Kroger.

Vickie, you scored on all of your deals at Kroger! I love checking out their clearance areas. The stew meat was a huge deal! I can't believe the regular price was $7.99 lb for stew meat? That's getting scary. Great deals! Cheryl in Washington state

Well, you got some great deals, so to me that outweighs your determination for no spend/low spend. I think you did great! I finally made my first January shopping trip today. I bought more than I was expecting, also, but there were so many canned goods including specialty soups and other items than aren't on sale often that I didn't pass them up, though I was very conservative in my buying. I got a good deal on toilet paper and also used a $1 off coupon. I splurged on 1/2 gallon organic chocolate milk--soon to go off date for $1.99, which is very cheap in my area. Unfortunately, none of the produce was on sale, which was my main reason for going to the store, but that is the way it goes sometimes. Have a good week!

You really have to watch for sales now on meat...then you better get it! So expensive!

I've been impressed with your low spend January KayM. I'm glad you got a deal on toilet paper. That price of tp is out of this world sometimes.

At the beginning of the week my Kroger had chuck roast on sale for $2.99/lb. Besides fresh fruit, vegetables, and milk, that was all I bought. I bought 8 for less than $70. They will be cut up and processed (canned) into beef stew, beef chunks, and ground beef. Now my Food Lion has Boston Butt on sale for $99/lb and I am going to get several for carnitas, pork tacos, and sausage.
