Have you started gardening yet?

I know some of you have started already but yesterday was warm enough in Michigan that I felt I could start some of our cold weather crops in the garden.  I ordered my onions from Dixon Dale Farms in Michigan and they came in!  If you can get out and garden it's good for the mind and body!

What if you are not able to garden due to limited space, limited knowledge, or physical limitations?   Start watching youtube videos, visit some of my helpful gardening posts, or download a free book today.  There is a wealth of information out there.  Yes, you will have victories and defeats just like any other project you start, I certainly have.  This year more than any other, I feel we just need to grow!

I am planning to plant the first round of lettuce seeds today. We went out for a ride to get out of the house. It is so weird out there with so many closed up businesses and so little traffic. We were coming back and saw that the discount grocery had almost no cars in the parking lot so we made a quick run through the store. We got 12 pounds of Jimmy Dean sausage for 99 cents a pound so we were glad we stopped!

Oh Lana what a deal on the sausage. I'm glad you stocked up!
It looks like a ghost town here too.

I did pull out my seeds ...I have a ton of old seeds that may not be any good. I plan to plant them in the wild areas of our property & just see what happens. If i get something form them I;ll be thrilled but I'm not expecting anything.

I will plant lettuce, spinach & onions this week. I think I can get a little before it gets too hot. I should be eating my own right now but I did not have the motivation when I should have planted.

I also have decided to fill in my perennial flower beds with edible plants instead of annuals this year. We'll see how that goes.

I haven't started any gardening. I would love to have some flowers in the front yard and back yard. We have a very small area for planting. Our next door neighbor blesses us with her hanging pots filled with beautiful flowers.

You just never know about those seeds they just may geow.
I hope they do for you.
I think that's a good idea for your flower beds..maybe put a few annuals in here and there to pep it up.

Can I have your neighbor? She sounds so nice.

I'm kind of depressed, I won't have a big garden this year. I did find a Basil kit that I plan on doing tonight. Once its warm enough I plane on buying a yellow pear tomato plant and giving it a big pot, also want to try pole beans. Everything else I will buy my fruit and veggies from our huge farmers market. Lana the sausage was an awesome deal! Once again Vickie thank you for the ebooks.

I'm glad your doing what you can and you'll be supporting the farmers market.
Have a great night tealady
