I'm reading!

It's been a struggle to read for me during this time.  I just couldn't concentrate long enough to get into a book.  This past week though I just picked up the book I left off reading a few months ago and decided to try to read a few pages.  The next day I read a few more and so forth.  Last night I read two chapters!  So exciting!

Then I found this in a Facebook group I'm apart of and it fits life perfect right now!

"My grandmother once gave me a tip:
In difficult times, you move forward in small steps.
Do what you have to do, but little by little.
Don't think about the future, or what may happen tomorrow.
Wash the dishes.
Remove the dust.
Write a letter.
Make a soup.
You see?
You are advancing step by step.
Take a step and stop.
Rest a little.
Praise yourself.
Take another step.
Then another.
You won't notice, but your steps will grow more and more.
And the time will come when you can think about the future without crying." ~ Elena Mikhalkova

This can apply to so many things beside reading of course, for instance, cooking, cleaning, walking, and keeping up with family.

I printed it off and put it on my fridge.

Please leave a comment and let me know how it's going in your neck of the woods.

Now printed off and on MY frig.
I read a chapter almost every night at bedtime, if I don't feel up to it I make myself read at least 1 page. I have about 4 books I float from on a given night.

I'm glad things are settling down for you. It is good to get away into a book and I have been reading, too. We have a rainy day on tap and possible severe weather. Yesterday we did a full shopping trip to Aldi and found it stocked just like any normal shopping day except TP which we did not need. Our state has opened up retail businesses and it seems that people have just calmed down as a result. There was far less traffic and other shoppers were much better about keeping their distance and were not pushy and reaching over us to grab things. Also others seemed to be shopping more normally and not grabbing multiples of things. Meat still had a limit but the shelves were fully stocked. Eggs were still a limit of two but they were only .58. All in all I think things are looking up!

Yes I love reading more than one too! one page at a time is all we can do sometimes. I just downloaded the jean kuhnke book so I'll have two going!

Oh that's sounds just wonderful to shop again without too much worry. Normal shopping is just what we all need! Eggs for .58 cents a dozen is a steal!
Our lockdown is until May 1st..not sure were things will go from there. It's getting better though thank God. So I expect good things. Slow but good.

Thank you. I will keep this quote for sure. She's absolutely right. I've done all I can do to stay safe so the only thing to do is just the daily home tasks.

Our lockdown is until June 10. I'm hoping I last that long. lol

I have been reading a lot, thanks to you, Vickie. I've downloaded several of the free Amazon books and read them. Several days ago you posted one that was Smicksburg Tales 3. After reading the description, I knew I would enjoy the whole series, so I bought the first one. Each book (there are 5...I bought them all) comprises of 8 "episodes" and each episode includes a recipe! The story was so interesting to me that all I did was sit and read. I started re-reading the first book today and gleaning such wisdom from it. I've started writing down the things that speak to me. My two favorites are: Regrets over yesterday and fear of tomorrow are twin thieves that rob us of the moment" and "Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience"

Thank you, Vickie, for taking time to post those books every day. They are much appreciated!

Sorry for the rambling!

It helps to realize we can get through this one step at a time.

Thank you Vickie. I have had the worst time with all this, my son has a job that is considered assencential, he works at a grocery warehouse picking for stores orders. He lives an hour away and lives by himself, I worry about him constantly. God forbid something should happen. Your books have helped alot. Thank you.

tealady, Tell him thank you for working in these tough times. I'll be praying for him.

Hugs, I did the same thing. What was even worse I decided to read a Russian Lit novel, lol. I was so proud when I finished it last week. It was hard to concentrate. I am taking small steps at a time.
