Kroger

I'm going to Kroger..I haven't been in months (it's been months right?).  I want the strawberries that they have on sale there.   I wonder what it's like there?  I haven't seen the one way aisles or if people are wearing their masks.  First time for me is always scary but I'm going to be safe.

I looked for some digital coupons and it seemed they had a lot of them for liquor.  What have we come to?

The Tub

The guy came and said going over top of our plastic tub is not doable.   He quoted a price of around $4500 for a new acrylic tub and surround and told us that they could install it in a month. We were nice and said we would give him a call.  I sanitized everything when he left.

So we are researching how much it will be to put in a metal tub.  We like the sounds of metal because it seems durable.  Cast iron is just too heavy for our floors.

Husband went out and bought some flex tape and I took a nice relaxing bath last night.  Hey, whatever works.

Please leave a comment and let me know how it's going in your neck of the woods.

WOW $4500 sounds awful high. I would do the flex tape as well!!!!! I saw Kroger had strawberries - not sure if I will venture out or not.

Hope you are able to get your strawberries. Let us know how your shopping trip goes.
I have been doing Kroger pickups, and haven't ventured into the store in months.
Ouch on the tub costs. Hope you are able to find a solution. Glad the flex seal worked, and you were able to enjoy a bath.

We have seen that going out is different for each store and area of town. Yesterday we went to Publix on the far side of town and people over there seem to be afraid and everyone is wearing a mask. On our side of town you would hardly know there is a pandemic since few are wearing masks and they are just about going about business as usual which on some levels is disturbing. Our state is mostly back open and so we actually went out to breakfast this morning at a sit down restaurant. There were very few people there and we were comfortable with it. I went to the dentist yesterday and they had a bunch of protocol in place. I was told to sanitize and wash my hands several times, had to rinse with Listerine before the work and I had my temperature taken. I also have a haircut appt for next week. We actually had the virus early in March so we have not been as cautious as most since we are immune. Most everyone we talk to here feels like they have already had it. So anyway that is where we are here. We wear masks if it is where everyone is wearing them and don't if others are not. Mostly we are just doing what seems to make others where we are comfortable.

About six months ago we had an estimate for taking out our tub and putting a shower in our master bath. The fiberglass shower was $6500 and a tile shower was $8500 Needless to say we still have our tub/shower unit! I hope you can find a good solution! For us it was installing grab bars but I know you have to do something at this point.

Ugh...I am sorry you're dealing with the tub right now. I can't remember how much it cost to do our bathtub last winter. We had so much more done than just the tub but maybe my husband can tell me what was just the tub. The price doesn't sound too outrageous to me if you are having them tear out, dispose of the old then add waterproofing, install the new tub & the surround. You really should compare the cost of a surround to tiling. You can only put in a sectional surround in a remodel instead of one large piece. We were pretty worried about water leaks with that. The tile itself did not cost much, we bought large rectangular, in stock tile. The labor between the two methods was not too different so we chose what we hope will last longer.

Labor is what kills me...especially the plumbing. We had one plumber quote $120 an hour! And we only needed him to do a 15 minute job & he would have been paid $120 for 15 minutes work...my husband almost lost his head at that quote. Needless to say we did NOT hire him but from what I understand it's hard to find someone who will actually show up & do the work even after you've hired one.

Do you have a second bathroom? If so, don't let yourself get pushed into something you aren't comfortable with. That's what happened to us. Thankfully the cost in money was reasonable but we paid a high price in other ways.

When you go to Kroger, go early in the morning if you can. The earlier you go, on a weekday morning, the less crowds I've found.

I remember when you had that done Jenny. It seemed to last forever for you. I bet you love it now. So many things to consider that's for sure and you brought up many good points.
I went at 8a.m. This morning..I've heard onee of my friends went today and had to walk out it was so busy. Glad I went early!

Wow you are ahead of us in getting out. A sit down restaurant sounds so nice but I think it's going to be awhile for us.
Wal-Mart here is mostly people without masks but Kroger people had A mask on. Not sure why.
Man it's so expensive to put in a tub! I don't blame you for not doing it. That flex tape is working so good We will take our time to figure it out I guess.

you will have to special order a metal tub. If you have a Lowes, Home Depot or Menards I would call them and ask what installation is running. Homeadvisor and Angie's list should have suggestions also

Oh my goodness! I hope you can find a tub that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! I know nothing about replacing tubs. I would just as soon keep it that way--LOL! good job on the temporary fix.

I haven't been out yet, but was thinking of giving it a try this week. I decided not to do so and got my Walmart grocery order delivered today.

We are opening up a little more here and now I intend to be more careful than ever as I think it is too soon and cases will increase greatly.

It seems I was greatly underpaid for bathroom work. All I got was a "looks great" from hubby. I think he was gone so long he forgot how bad it used to be.

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

Kaym I know it's going to be a hassle with this tub. I dread it. If it wouldn't leak I will be good.
I don't blame you for getting pick up. You got to be safe!

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

Yes even though the grocery stores have been opened I never went much. It's scary that's for sure. I'm glad your being safe.
You know I bet he was impressed with your work..sometimes hubbys just don't know how to compliment us.

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

Thanks Chef we will do that! I think we will be getting with that tonight. I called off grandmas school today and that gives us more time.
