Grandmas School

No photo description available.
We have settled into a routine and I believe we are making progress in Grandmas School. He is working while I struggle to remember most of it.  We are getting it done.

It kind of starts off funny.  He and younger granddaughter arrive.  She goes and plays with Pop and he relaxes for about 1 hour by reading a book or watching t.v.  Then I ring the bell (it was a hand bell given to me when I worked 10 years as a bus driver) and school starts.   Then off we go into 4th grade math, reading, writing, and social studies.   We get along and it's goes pretty good.

Then school is over and he patiently impatiently waits at the picture window for his Mom.  Grandmas house is not the same as it used to be.

How does this Work?
In case you don't know how the online school works, it's really quite amazing what technology has brought us.  You see  he has a chrome book (computer) given to him by the school.  He goes on his teachers online school page and works.  The teacher talks and explains things and then he completes practice pages and quizzes.  They also have videos to watch about books and history.  Very interesting stuff (I love it).

Sounds like your grandson is doing well at Grandma's school. Great job!
When will school be over in your area?
School is almost over here, and they are having a graduation in the university parking lot. No idea how that is going to work. Maybe a drive-in graduation?

I think June..so just a couple more weeks.
They are having one here in a drive in somehow.

I dread when my grandson reaches the age when my house isn't fun anymore. But of course...doing schoolwork anywhere is not really much fun. I'm glad you found a good system.

I homeschooled my son from birth through high school. Third grade was probably our hardest year. He hated it. I hated it. But we survived. I can't say I'm glad we homeschooled because I seriously hated the responsibility & work of homeschooling. But I am super grateful at the relationship I grew with my son. I don't think we'd be so close now it he had gone away to school.

When school is over I hope he loves my house again. We do such fun things. I'm Sure he will. I'm not ready for him to ditch me yet!
He does his work but he is not a lover of school unfortunately. Never complains at all though just not too happy to do it. I'll be glad to just get back to being grandma again.
