Remembering on Memorial Day!

I'll be out decorating graves today and remembering those in my family who have passed. The cemetery that my parents are buried in only allows fresh flowers in the summer so off to the nursery I go (with my mask).  It's a time to remember our fallen heroes. This year for me is a time also to remember the people who have passed away this past couple of months to covid-19.  In the blink of an eye 100,000 people in the United States have passed away this year.

By afternoon we usually go to a parade  then at night we enjoy the fireworks but all of those things are cancelled.  With good reason, it's a time to stay safe this year.

So, this morning will be a time of remembering and this afternoon will be a time for grilling out.  The grand kids will be over with their Mom and it will be a fun afternoon.   I think by that time the backyard should be dry enough for them to go out there and play.

Please leave a comment and let me know how it's going in your neck of the woods.

  1. My Dad passed away yesterday afternoon so it is a sad Memorial Day here. Not unexpected but still hard.

  2. Such a sad time for our country and our world. So many lives lost and lives changed. :(
But I'm thankful for the good things too. Enjoy your cookout and grandkids. We are grilling hamburgers and fixins, and I have watermelon and apple pie and ice cream. Tomorrow is soon enough to diet. ;)
    Have a good day.
