Almost Back to Normal!

With the governor's address yesterday we are slowly making our way back to a "normal."  We can go to a resturant  and eat in (with spaced out seating) and we are no longer urged to stay home.  Stay safe though was the #1 theme.  Of course, we still need to wear masks and social distance.

I'm not going to go sit in a resturant yet.  I'm just not ready.  Things will have to calm down a lot for me to do that here.  I think depending on where you live that you could feel different about that.

Please a comment and let me know how it's going in your neck of the woods.

I am glad that your state is opening back up. Our governor said to stay safe, but go! I thought that was hilarious. Things are starting to seem more normal here. For a long time people would not even look at each other out in public which I found disturbing but now when we are out people talk to us just like it used to be and the fear factor is way down. Just three counties over where out house is on the lake you can hardly tell there ever was a quarantine. There have been only 50 cases in that county and no deaths so they are just going about their lives. It is interesting how it varies so much from one location to to another. It is weird to get back out there but every time you go it will seem safer and more normal.

Glad your state is almost back to normal. VA is still in phase 1, so no dine in restaurants yet. Even if they were open, I wouldn't go since we are still having almost 1000 new cases each day. My son's college will start Aug 12, so they will finish before Thanksgiving. I think they are expecting a second wave in Dec? Maybe they know something I don't?
Thanks for the Amish book. I've been wanting to make meadow tea since I had it in Lancaster last year.

Oh man school for the grandchildren is going to be so different too I guess. That would make you wonder about December.
Meadow tea sounds delicious. I hope it's a good recipe. Book for you.

You mentioned the fear..oh yes I could see it in people's eyes here. They couldn't drive either Because they were thinking ..I called it covid brain.
I know we will finally get back out there. We are actually grocery shopping so that's a step forward and I so want normal. One step at a time I guess.
I want to live in a county like your cottage is in and pretend like it's not happening. You are blessed to be able to go there Lana!

Today went much better than yesterday thankfully. I went to bed last night at 7:30 so that was a huge help.....a good night's sleep.

So much is open here but I'm not going out. I had been going into the grocery store a little, very early in the mornings but I'm not even going to do that for the next two weeks at least because our numbers have gone up quite a bit in my community.

I'm working on a Walmart order for pick up.

sleep is everything. It really helps us to do another day.
I'm just like you if numbers to up I'm going back to pick ups in a heart beat.

I live in a city of 3 million and we are still averaging 300 to 400 new cases per day so our premier is being very conservative. We have gone into phase 1 of reopening - many seasonal things plus stores with street entries (no malls) - restaurants are still takeout or delivery only - no hairdressers - no school until September - and in my city the big banks (who have their head offices here) plus Insurance companies - law firms etc. that occupy the big towers downtown have agreed to keep their people working from home until at least September. The only churches that have actual services are those suburban or country ones that have huge parking lots - for some if they don't have the microphones etc. that they need simply haven't bothered. Like the rest of us (I work for my church) our doors are closed and we do a YouTube service each Sunday. We just received an update from our head office today as to what we should be thinking of doing once we are allowed to reopen (we have been proactive and already have plans in place) however, we will be surprised if we can open in any way before August. My church is a very large downtown one (smack in the middle of the Entertainment District & the Financial District) and we do a lot of outreach work so it has been difficult. But - we will follow the rules as laid out by the Provincial Health Authorities. Our state of Emergency was extended just today and to the end of June - although they may ease a few more things in a couple of weeks time if numbers come down. Masks are strongly recommended although not mandatory (although many of us wish they would just take that extra step) - but - a number of stores do require them and the transit authority wants it to be mandatory onboard buses and the subway - they have blocked out seats so that you can only sit in about every third seat and people do follow that rule!
I go to the office once a week - I shop maybe once every 7 to 10 days and I try to walk more as I've gained weight and feel very sluggish.
Good luck with your reopening.

We have a doctor in our congregation who has been on the frontline and she has told the ministers to expect that big second wave around November - to coincide with the usual cold & flu season and to expect to have to go back into lockdown - Christmas may be very different this year I'm afraid..

It's a very hard time right now...everything will be slow to.open I'm sure..each with their own date. Hopefully things will good forward but Marie we just do t know for sure with this virus. I'm glad your area is taking it very slow it's the only way to be safe. Everyone working together like that is wonderful.

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

That maybe a thing to prep for Marie. Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks for letting us know.
The college told the kids, they didn't want them traveling home for Thanksgiving, then coming back to campus for exams and possibly spreading the virus.
Strange times.

Oh no Kathy! I can't imagine how sad that might be. Woohoo have to send a good care package for sure.
