I've always wanted to go to the Lehman's store in Ohio and I got it into my head that would be a great Covid date with my husband today.  Then I looked it up and it's over 4 hours away.  Somehow, I thought it was just over the Michigan border.  I was so disappointed.   It's a great old fashioned store that carries every off  grid thing you would need.  I guess I'll stick to the catalog for now.

So, he had a plan #2 and I loved it.  We've decided today to go to a store in Lansing that we went to last year.  We both don't remember the name but we know just where it is haha.  It has fruit, veggies, and coffees from all over the world.  Just a neat place to visit.

After that we've decided we would take the old way back and enjoy the scenery.  Take out and eating in the car will be included or maybe I should take a picnic.  I've seen more people picnicking than ever before.  Reminds me of back when I was growing up.

I'm excited!  Just the two of us!

P.S.  The old way for us is no expressway.  Just country roads that seem to last forever.

Oh, I have always wanted to go to the Lehman's store, Vickie. Did you read that the founder passed away this week? He was in his 90s. I like any store like that. Here in Tennessee there is a Mennonite store in Crossville and I love going in there and buying all sorts of things for the kitchen. They have the best prices on spices.

Hope you have a really fun trip!

We love that kind of date! Here in our lake house town there is a beautiful park downtown with big oak trees shading the parking lot. We have had two Zaxbys car picnics there and have so enjoyed it. Have a fun day!

Lehman might be limiting number of people... it's gotten more "Englisher" than a provider for Amish and Mennonite. It's 2 hrs from here. We have friends that go to Berlin OH (also 2 hrs from us LOL) that say it's better than Lehman

Have fun!!! Sounds like a great date!

I hope you have perfect weather for your picnic. We like going the scenic route too....is it something about aging?!

At first we were driving in the city and we had to stop. Everything was so depressing all closed up. At least in the country you see a cow or a horse! ha ha. Yes I think drives are part of aging too!

We did have fun...well the best we could in this situation. Thanks Kathy!

Yes we had KFC in the parking lot under a shade tree..there were others parking too! No Zaxby's here but I've had one and they are good!
Have a great day Lana!

Oh that store sounds wonderful Belinda! We need a store like that..the grocery stores we have are great though. Just need more of a home store to go with it like your talking about.

Horrocks? Ann

Yes Horrocks! We bought his coffee (I think it's from Mexico) and some candy that we didn't need. It was candy I ate as a kid. Then we exclaimed oh my at the $10 watermelon and had a fun little trip. Just somewhere different to go I guess which is hard during this time.

I hope you enjoyed your day trip. So sorry you didn't get to Lehman's. I've been there a few times and it's so enjoyable. It always makes me think of living a simpler, but hard-working life. More like the 1930's.

One day when this is over I'll get there. I love your description. Yep it would have been so fun to see. Our day trip was very good though. Thanks Kay.
