The tomatoes came on strong this summer and it was exciting thinking about that big harvest.  Yep, the head got ahead of the harvest or something like that.  The heat and the drought we are currently having has probably cut my tomato harvest in half this year.

We finally got passed the tomato sandwich phase and got enough to can ...3 pints!  There are more out there but I'm thinking that this is how it's going to be till they are done and I'm going to be small batch canning.  We have enough tomatoes canned from last year to not worry about it.  So, I'll can what I get and not worry.

I'm also picking blackberries from the vine.  They always ripen about 10 a day.  I'm freezing these until I get enough to make jelly.

How's your summer, Is it as hot and dry as ours?

Glad you were able to can some tomatoes
Mine have fizzled, but I'm having some to eat, so shall enjoy them while I have them.

I was freezing 3-4 blackberries at the beginning and then the end... Blossom rot wiped out most of my paste tomatoes. I am getting regular tomatoes from a local Amish guy that said he has spent a lot of time hauling water to his hoop house (he plants the tomatoes in ground) for his tomatoes. He has rain gutters on the hoop house. Said it's been so dry he isn't getting even the dew like he did last year.

Yes that's how it goes sometimes they just fizzle. Glad you are getting some to eat!

That is sad about these drought conditions. I had hoped the hurricanes would push up the rain this far but it doesn't look like it. I just hope now that every one is safe in the southern states.

I'm roasting two trays of cherry tomatoes for tomato spread. I have about a dozen jars in the freezer doing a few at a time. I've given a few away & eaten one about every week or I'd have more stored. It's so good.

I'm also dehydrating oranges today to use in potpourri for gifts this winter.

Jenny, tomato cherry spread sounds delicious! I bet your potpourri seems wonderful too. Don't work too hard!
