We will be picking green beans today after it has dried up some.  We had a few storms yesterday. Cool air has rushed in and we are happy! It will make bean picking a breeze.

Young grand boy in exchange for a game has agreed to help pick.  I love that. He is a worker especially when he wants something, ha ha! I have no problem paying him to work for us.  It gives him a purpose and he gets rewarded.

Young granddaughter has gotten the hang of it too.  She just ordered a baby doll with her money she has earned in the last month.  She is a very hard worker.

In the process they learn new things and are excited to earn some money of their own.

So, they rarely go to the store anymore. Young granddaughter shops online for her dolls and the grandson just orders his games.  It's kind of sad but we have adapted I guess for the times we are in.

How's it going in your neck of the woods?

We're doing good here, staying home like you all and getting our items online. I'm glad you have a helper to pick those beans.

I love that. Can I ask how much you pay your grandkids? Do you just pay per job? I'm hoping I can do this with mine when he gets a little older.

I need to find some motivation to go buy some produce to put up for winter. I'm still putting up tomatoes but we aren't even getting enough in a day to process. I have to pick a few days in a row.

I'm also still trying to learn my dehydrator. It does take a long time to dry some things, as much as 12 to 16 hours sometimes. I can't decide when to start a batch because I need to think about when it will finish.

I'm mailing out promised flower seeds to friends this week.
I got my bathroom painted while my grandson was gone. He loves the splash pad I found on clearance. He asks his dad first thing when he wakes up if he can go play in 'Grammy's pool'. It's the first thing he asks when he walks in my door. It hasn't been hot enough to use it every day & I'll have to put it away for winter in another week or so...I'm afraid it may cause some drama.

Thanks so much for keeping up with your blog. I look forward to your posts so much.

We pay them per job. He needed $10 for his games and I'll have him pick beans and depending how long he works I might have him help clean up the yard where the chicken coop used to be. Should do it..
The younger one gets less but she is a hard worker so sometimes she gets the same. Our only problem with her is that she thinks she gets money for everything now..even picking up her own toys LOL
Aww I hate the end of summer so sad for the kids. It goes in the blink of an eye!
So glad you come by Jenny..I love your comments too!

Me too..I'm thinking he'll be worth every penny ha ha.

Glad it is cooler now. We have rain today with the remnants of Laura passing through.
I think it is great that you have some helpers to pick beans. I would gladly pay to save my back from bending over.
Things are crazy here. Our area made the New York Times ten covid hotspots list yesterday. And my kid goes to the college that is having the spike in cases of 20-30 a day. All because the frat boys had to have their parties.

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

Oh so many cases. So sorry to hear that. It bothers me that they can't stop partying during this pandemic. I think my Mother and dad would have thought we had lost our minds if we had done something like that. We would have never heard the end of it. A lot of colleges are like that though I hear.

Your post reminded me of one of my grandsons. I had tried to get him to do some work for me, when he was in high school, but he was too lazy and to be honest, not a very hard worker. Times changed. In college, as he left home and was on his own, he was glad to work for me and surprise! He is a very hard worker and really earns his money. I'm so glad. I was worried a bit, when he was younger.

I think they appreciate the opportunity to make money more when they get older. I think when they are younger they kind of know we will just give them some money. I hope they both come by when I get older and help me out like your grandson. I'd gladly pay them then too!
