Book Review: Point of Danger by Irene Hannon

Point of Danger (Triple Threat Book #1)

Radio talk show host Eve Reilly is used to backlash from her pot-stirring on-air commentary and interviews, but now it seems a disgruntled listener is resorting to more than angry words to express their displeasure. When a suspicious package arrives on her doorstep, Eve turns to law enforcement for help.

Police detective Brent Lange can't find any evidence to link the string of unsettling incidents that follows, but he's convinced they're connected. As the harassment grows more menacing, it becomes clear someone wants Eve's voice silenced--permanently.

But unless he can track down her foe, fast, the gutsy woman who is willing to take risks for what she believes--and who is swiftly winning his heart--may not survive.

My thoughts:

Somehow, I missed that this book involved politics. I sure didn't expect it and it caught me off guard. So, I read 19 pages and unfortunately had to stop.  I tried skipping some pages and come back into the story.  Sadly, after much struggling I gave up because I never could get to a place to pick up on.  So, after reading her views, the real story was unfortunately lost on me.

Maybe, I could have loved it better if it didn't involve politics, especially on the eve of such an important election.  I needed a story that I could get lost in and forget everything that's happening.  So, I'm sure part of not liking this book is my problem..maybe all of it.   Hopefully, this author has other books that will capture my interest.  So, I've not given up on her at all.

I wish that on the back of the book though there could have been just a hint or it could have been listed political!

This book was given to me by the publisher but the opinion is my own.

I don't think your review was too harsh at all.
I love a good mystery, but I surely don't want to read about politics, esp. now.
Your review was fine and probably kinder than I would have been.

Her disgruntled listener sounds lie an Internet troll. Ugh.

Sorry you did not like the book due to the politics inside. I read to escape from everyday life, so I doubt I would like it either.

I'm amazed how much the trolls get by with.
I just love a book to take me away ..this one did not. So disappointing!

I don't think your review is harsh at all. It's unreasonable to think we would like every book we read. And sometimes we hate a book only to come back a few years later & enjoy it. I think the review was kind & honest....that's really what authors & readers should hope for.
