I've been keeping busy at home and trying not to get too bored.  Although the last few days have been nice, it's really too late in the year to garden.   I've made sure to get outside though in the nice weather.

Day 1 (Tuesday -actually the day before it took effect) of the newest lockdown -I canned Apple Pie Filling.  This is something new for me because I was taught you shouldn't can pie filling.  They have come up with something new to help thicken the recipe, so you are apple to can pie filling successfully. This has probably been around for awhile and I didn't know it. The recipe from Ball is here and the thickener can be bought on Amazon here.

Day 2 (Wednesday)-I cleaned the refrigerator.  It had to be done.

Day 3 & 4 (Thursday and hopefully tonight) -I started crocheting a nativity set.  The pattern on Whistle and Ivy is a crochet a long and it's free.  This is Joseph.  He will have a cloak.

He is really two inches too big, I believe because I used what yarn I have.  I've decided Joseph will be a big Joseph.  It will be ok.  I'll be making the cloak tonight.

Oh I love Joseph! Please share when you finish his cloak. Yummy on the pie filling. I didn't know you could can it. I usually freeze apples and applesauce. Won't apple pies taste good this winter.

It's new to me that you could can it either. Imagine how fast those apple pies will be made now!
Have a great day today Kathy. I'll be thinking of you.

I've always canned pie filling. Guess it's because I do it like the Amish and use clear jel or just thicken it when I put it in the pie

You are so industrious!

It's taken me at least three years but I'm finally figuring out how to get things done while I watch my grandson at the same time.

My husband finally got rid of two old junk cars on our property. The car he had when we were dating, married, moved across country. It had been parked in our barn for 27 yrs. And the first car we bought as a married couple, brought our baby home from the hospital in & went on a lot of trips to see family in. He had been driving it to work some but not as much since our son gave us his car from his teen yrs. We donated them to a charity that trains people then helps them find jobs. The cars are either renewed & given to students or used for parts. We were just super glad we did not have to pay anyone to take them.

I also got some free food from my daughter-in-law again...she has generous coworkers. Two pounds of dried fruit & nut mix, one pound of raisins & two 12 ounce shelf-stable boxes of cream of chicken soup. I don't buy creamed soups because of the higher carb count but Leah (my dil) & I agreed that we might be very happy to have them if things keep getting crazier. So I will find a way to use them.

Thanks for the crafting reminder....I need to pull out the felt nativity I made last year for my grandson & make the stable. I think he'll really enjoy it this year.

I never did learn how to do too much when they were little LOL. They take up a lot of tim e and energy.
I bet your happy those cars are gone.
