This week with Christmas Break here, my hope is to catch up on recipes for the blog. I've been promising my sister and her son forever the first recipe, Chocolate Gravy. It will be on the blog today. Memories of Mom, Dad, and being a newly wedded couple all kept coming back as I wrote out this simple, yet decadent recipe. It's a family favorite (well, for some people).
I hope to follow up with recipes for easy toffee, peanut brittle, and a few others.

I'm making the Hershey's chocolate pie recipe from their website using Ghiradelli dark chocolate chips & I'll use a shortbread cookie pie crust. This is all for my husband. We'll all eat it of course but I'm making it for him because he loves it so much.
We're doing party foods instead of meal in hopes we'll eat less....? I hope it works. We'll have Velvetta dip with sausage & rotel served with Frito scoops. My daughter in law is making sausage stars. They're so good..little wonton stars with a sausage & cheese filling. I'll have a fruit & veggie tray with ranch dip & I bought some Pike's Peak Starbuck's coffee to have with our pie. Yum!
Vickie-thank you so much for the recipe. I love to look at different folks recipes-it's so interesting to me even tho I may never make. I remember you've mentioned a bean recipe-I've never even heard of that bean before! I think I googled it and it was a bean you had to cook for a long time (that's all I remember). If you have a chance sometime, could you post a recipe for them.
Thank you for being here-Merry Christmas to you and the family. Be safe.
I believe your talking about cooking shuck beans. We have our supply ready to cook for the holidays..maybe New year's. Here is the link:http://www.vickieskitchenandgarden.com/2014/11/how-to-cook-shuck-beans-dehydrated.html
Every region is so different it's fun to learn about different foods.
Merry Christmas to you too Nancy..so glad you come by for a visit.
We are in love with your menu. Husband loves pikes peak coffee. Says it's the best! Good thing I bought that gift card for him. I'm kind of loving the sound of that pie!
Yes-shuck beans. Well, now I know!
Thank you so much.
Here's the recipe. It's called Hershey's Gone to Heaven pie. https://www.hersheys.com/kitchens/en_us/recipes/hersheys-gone-to-heaven-chocolate-pie.html
Like I said above, I use Ghiradelli's dark chocolate chips & no sugar. I did a test pie right after Thanksgiving to see how it would taste without the extra sugar & both my husband & my son really liked it. I did too & I have a sweeter tooth than they do. Ghiradelli chips have a lower sugar content than Hershey but for us the chips alone were enough.
your welcome! Those beans take forever and fog up the Windows real good.
Thanks for the link Jenny. That recipe sounds like a keeper for sure!
