I realize I had not updated in awhile how our renovation is going in the living/dining room.   It's been a great transformation so far!

We had fake Lava Rock on the fireplace.  This was here when we moved in over 25 years ago.  So, really who knows how old it was.

Now, we have a  more modern look and I haven't quit looking at it yet!

In the dining area there was wallpaper and fake wood paneling.  I didn't want to have to wallpaper again and even though you can't see it there was no help for the paneling.

Now we have new drywall and fresh coat of paint.

The carpet is the hold up now and it will be installed in 2 weeks.  So, it's been a full month from when we ordered it for it to be installed.  First thing she said when she called for an installation date was sorry.  Poor thing, it's not her fault.

After doing this renovation we think the rest of the house looks wonderful for awhile!  I'm sure there will be things we have to do though.

How's it going in your neck of the woods?

  1. Oh I love your new look in the living/dining area!
The new fireplace stone is lovely! And the room looks brighter with the new drywall and paint. I know you will enjoy the makeover. Sorry that you have to wait on the carpet and move all the furniture again though.

And what a coincidence that our 41st wedding anniversaries are so close to each other. Happy Anniversary to you and your husband ❤️

    1. I thought that was so neat that your anniversary was so close to ours! We celebrated with pizza and then went to a little German town by us to celebrate (Frankenmuth). We bought our celebration dessert there. ha ha. Unusual celebration for unusual times.

    1. Thanks Nancy! Patience is a virtue that I sometimes don't have but with Covid I've had to practice the art more often ha ha!

  8. I would like to do our fireplace. Was it hard to do and what type of material did you use. It is beautiful.

    1. Really I could have done it (just joking)but we had someone do it for us I really thought I could but listen it was a lot of measuring, leveling, and cutting. It was a big job for him.
We bought the material at Menards back in their building department. Home Depot might have some like it to. They had many different types so you could find something different too.
Good luck and you might have more skill then I have.

  10. Sometimes the work of remodeling can help you be very happy with your house! I don't know if I'll ever want to remodel my master bathroom.

I did a little more painting on the outside today. We''l get it done eventually.

Your fireplace looks amazing. I love it.

    1. Yes for some reason the price of homes around here have skyrocketed. They might be like that every where I'm not sure. So we know we could get a great price for our home but it won't be anything that's comparable. In the end we've deceided we love living here and we will just remodel as we go along.

You tackle work like I do Jenny..a little at a time.
