As a avid reader my house sometimes can be overrun with books.  Long ago I used to keep and cherish every single one..until I ran out of space or we moved.  Yeah, boxes of books that I may not read again are not fun to move.  So, now I just keep the ones I can not part with and I'm resonably sure I would read again.  In this way, I fell the love of these great books get spread around.

I have gave books to friends and relatives but I need to see if anyone wants some again.  I have also gave some to my Library for their book sale but they are no longer accepting donations due to Covid.  This morning though I'm answering the call on one of my Facebook pages for a Grandmother who loves to read and is in need of books.  Yeah another avid reader!

What do you do with your books?

Before the pandemic, we use to trade our old books for new to us ones at McKay's. We have not done that in over a year, but I will be thrilled when we can finally go back to it.

I'm sure that the grandma will enjoy her new books.
I don't buy many physical books these days. Thanks for the free kindle books. :)
I donate some books to goodwill, and I have saved the kids' childhood books in case I have grandkids someday.

It will be so good to get back to normal!

I have 6 or 7 Little Free Libraries within walking distance of my house. When I go walking, I put my extras in my backpack and drop them off. I get a lot of good new reading material too!

I saved the girl's books and the grandkids enjoyed them. Henny penny is a long standing favorite.

As Belinda mentioned in the first reply, we also use McKay's (a bookstore with used books and all sorts of other items for entertainment) to swap our read books for books that we want to read. We have actually used McKay's in the past month - you can always "quarantine" the books that are new to you. You can also use the Little Free Libraries in your town. Their web site is littlefreelibrary.org. Basically people have a little "book house" in front of their homes or in other locations by parks or schools. You leave your extra book(s) and pick new one(s). Of course, you are welcome to leave any extra books for others without trading. On their web site is a world map of locations of the libraries. Again, you can always "quarantine" the new to you books you select. You can also donate books to charity stores, school teachers, and preschools.

Most of my books are donated back to the thrift shops where I buy them. I have some home keeping books that I do go back to through the seasons. And if I read a book I think a fiend would enjoy I offer it to them. My book club is starting back this weekend. We'll be meeting outside on Sunday afternoons. So I'll be able to share with them again.

I have a few keepers--mostly non-fiction. I read quite a bit--both hard copies (mostly) and Kindle books. One reason I like the hard copies is so that I can send them on to my aunt in rural Iowa, when I finish reading them. Another good option is paperbackswap.com.

Oh you are so lucky to have so many free libraries. I've seen a few but not too many around here.

I look up the free libraries and see if there are some around that I don't know about. As the living room gets back together I suspect I'll have quite a few to donate. Thanks for the info Nancy.

oh my goodness so I looked up my area and one of my friends on Facebook has one! I never knew because it's down in a subdivision. I'm messaging her now!

oh I love that your book club is getting back together! Outside is probably the best! Love that!

I hadn't forgotten paper back swap. That's a good one thanks Kay!
