This weekend was a mixture of fun and a little work. We started off Saturday morning with the fun and went to two subdivision sales. We only found one thing though and that was a new in the box bookcase for $15.00. Yeah, I opened it up and shut it real quick. We will put that together another time. Then we had a wonderful take out meal from the local steakhouse for Mother's Day dinner (we always do this the day before or even the week before).
Really, after that we collapsed ..the day was done.
Sunday, we finally put up our mantle. We bought a Walnut board from Habitat for Humanity where they sell reclaimed wood. We paid only $35.00. They had some huge ones like you see on Bonanza there too but I had to put my dreams aside and find the one that fit our fireplace.
After eating leftovers us girls went flower shopping. We didn't buy any annual flowers or vegetables just a tree for daughter and a climbing vine for me. It's still too cold.
Last night finally we put up an trellis between the two raised beds in the vegetable garden. It's not a perfect job but no one will notice after things are growing and I love it.
I'll take a picture soon. Man, it's a bit nippy out there.
As you can see I put the notion aside of sleeping in and doing nothing for Mother's Day a long time ago.

Sounds like a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
I love your fireplace stone, and the mantle is perfect. You cracked me up with the Bonanza fireplace comment though. :)
Glad you were able to spend time with family doing fun stuff and you didn't have to cook.
We went down to mil's house Saturday, and she had us do so many odd jobs that we spent Sunday recovering. At least dh grilled me some steaks so I didn't have to cook. I'm still moving slow today though.
Have a great week.
Oh, a subdivision sale sounds like fun and you had two to go to. How neat. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, Vickie.
Oh I'm so glad you MIL has you guys! I remember those times so well with my Mother. We took care of two houses for a long time (ours and hers). I'm glad we were able to help but we did get wore out like you. So glad your dh got those steaks going after your exhausting Saturday!
I hope you a wonderful Mother's day as well. It is so good to be remembered on a special day!
Your fireplace looks so beautiful. It sounds like a fun weekend.
I won't go into my weekend....it would sound like one big moan. A good thing...I got a cheerful phone call from my aunt & uncle in TN. I really needed it.
Sounds like a good weekend. Our neighborhood will be having a yard sale this weekend. Lots of families participating. A bit overcast here today. I'm watching the hummingbirds and trying to get some writing done. Have a blessed week! :-)
Oh so sorry about your weekend. I hate that..but it happens to us all I guess Jenny. I'm glad you got that much needed cheerful phone call. They knew just when to call.
Oh Melissa I would never get any writing done watching hummingbirds! I would love that!
