Frugal Friday 6/17/22!

My roses are my favorite bloom this week.  Just beautiful !

After we ran out of grass clippings for mulch, husband decided he had better till between the rows.  We have had a good amount of garden rain which of course means that we now have a good amount of weeds!  Those weeds would have probably been up to my eyeballs when I finally got them under control.  Besides, I think he likes to help out and run that thing.

The harvest this morning, a few strawberries (grand girl picked and ate on her harvest all week), chives, rhubarb,  chocolate mint and peppermint.

Warning:  This harvest will not fill you up.  It's not something to sustain you, but it will flavor what you do have and so to me it's important.  The flavors will make your food much more enjoyable.  I love mint tea (chocolate mint is fun),  we love the chives to flavor our soups and potatoes,  the strawberries can be used with tomorrows harvest to get a good bowl full to eat (hide it in the refrigerator) or make strawberry muffins, and I'm going to make a rhubarb cake with a recipe I found.   It will be good!

How did you save money last week?

I love yellow roses! Our harvests are most of the time like yours. Tomorrow maybe a dozen green beans but I will toss them in the air fryer and we will each have a few and they will be yummy.

Oh man You have green beans. So lucky.
I'm going to go pick some yellow roses and make a bouquet today. They are so pretty!

Yellow roses were my Mom’s favorite color rose. My Dad always brought her yellow ones when he brought her flowers. I like your harvest and would be thrilled with it. The chocolate mint sounds so good to. I need to get me some of that.

What a wonderful memory Belinda. Your Dad was very sweet.
It's amazing how many different mint flavors they have to plant. I'm out of room though. Have a good day

I love yellow roses. Our pump house was covered in a yellow rose that climbed all over it. Since something ate all my vegetables last year, I am only growing herbs and things that have no fruit for critters to nibble. And, then there are flowers to feed the soul.

Your harvest looks wonderful there! Love your yellow roses. Our garden is slow-just really getting started (but that's expected in Northern Wisconsin). Just do the best we can and appreciate what we get!
I do feel for folks who don't (or can't) garden. Truly it's a comfort for me to play in the dirt! Yes, sometimes it's not easy-weeding, hauling out the hose, mosquitoes, ticks, etc, but I love spending time outdoors. Maybe because winter is so long up here:).
Enjoy your weekend Vickie-thank you for your blog.

Yes, I think you got that right about winters grasp and running outside to garden as soon as we can. It's a mood lifter for sure and a work out!
I watch youtube and visit blogs from the south. Oh man, they are already harvesting a lot. Our gardens will be there soon (I hope). Have a great day Nancy!

Practical, I know what you mean about critters. Something cobbled up some of our plants...we are now growing carrots there. Like you, I love the herbs though and lifting up the soul flowers! I wish I had climbing roses ..so beautiful!
