My Weedy Garden, A Harvest, and the Menu Plan for this Week 7/12/22

My garden is full of weeds but it's doing ok.  The other day I went out and hunted for plants in the mist of the weeds.  I've done a lot with this sprained ankle in the garden but it still got ahead of me.

I want you to know that there is still hope if you have gotten behind, sickness, babies, accidents, or even a death in the family has all come in my gardening season.  Things will still grow.   You will get back out there and be able to save it as soon as you can.  Just make sure to water it.

I have tomatoes on all my plants but look at this one!  It's a winner for sure.

I have been harvesting my onions.  I'll be planting mustard greens there as soon as I get done.   These are candy cane onions that we got on our trip to Ohio for our anniversary.

Another harvest (2 small zucchini and 6 snow peas) and my dirty foot.  I gave up on the snow peas and put in some rattlesnake beans but one pea plant escaped the massacre.  LOL

I immediately made 1/2 of the recipe for zucchini bread.  Granddaughter says it should not be called zucchini bread because you can't taste the zucchini.  Mission accomplished!

Menu ..Sunday..we made a 1/4 of the ham we bought for $12.00 at the Mennonite store last week.   Now I'm making use of  the leftovers all week.

Monday             Pizza with leftover ham, cheese, and pepperoni

Tuesday             Spaghetti (to use up the rest of the sauce from the pizza and I will add a jar of my tomatoes) and rolls from Sunday made into garlic rolls

Wednesday          Hamburger steak, salad, and potato (didn't make it last week)

Thursday             Ham and cheese omelets

Friday                 Pinto beans with ham, cornbread, and mustard greens ( this should be last of the ham)

Saturday             Grilled rosemary Pork chops, can of garden green beans from last year.

Sunday                Leftovers

So tell me how are things going or what's on your Menu?

That tomato plant is beautiful! Such a lovely sight.
Weeds grow even if nothing else does.
Have a good one!

Your garden is coming along nicely. It’s great that your Grandaughter can’t taste the zucchini in the bread. We are enjoying fresh corn on the cob here, so delicious!

Cheryl, It always cracks me up how much I smell like a tomato after walking through the rows. It's a lovely sight and smell!

Belinda, Fresh corn you are so lucky! Ours was knee high by the fourth but we are still a ways out. Have a great day!

I'm sorry you are still having trouble with your ankle. Our container garden is overwatered having gotten 9 inched of rain in 9 days. The rain is not over yet as it is supposed to rain a lot this week, too. Hubby had to go out yesterday and pour water out of the self watering pots to help them dry out. The rest are on their own. But, I think the squirrel problem has been solved.

Oh man, Lana that is a lot of rain. I wish we could spread the rain around some.
squirrels can be such a nuisance! I'm glad your problem is fixed
Have a great week.
