Sorry that I've been gone, I guess I had a writing block. I keep thinking about this blog and how to make it revelant for what is going on in the world. In the winter I have a hard time because to me it's boring without the garden and the great outdoors but now I believe I can find something to write about with everything that is going on. I'll tell you how I'm keeping busy and how I save money all in one post. I'm still doing book and movie reviews but I'll write a weekly post on Friday.
My granddaughter's leggings developed a hole in knee so I cut them off and hemmed them for shorts to use this summer. I found the patch in my sewing supplies and sewed it on too. Grand daughter hand sewed one side. She is learning to sew and I told her what a great job she was doing. She is very interested in crafting.
We cut off our jeans often growing up and I believe that's why we used lace a lot to cover up our sewing when we were young. We also fringed the bottom of jean's we cut off. Did you or do you do that too?
This week I also finished emboirdering another unicorn pillowcase (I already made one for granddaughter). I plan on putting this one in the Fair this summer and then gifting it to another young girl.

How are you doing grocery shopping?
Glad to see you post. Miss ya!
Those look to be some good prices you found.
I love remaking things into something new and useful. Have a good weekend.
It's been a very long time since I commented. I've missed following along the blog. I've followed on FB but have missed a lot of posts.
Do you have Walmart or Sam's club in your area? I did my shopping yesterday. I usually buy quite a bit at Aldi but I was going the next town over to Sam's club & did all of my shopping there & Walmart. So far we're keeping up with the higher prices...I do keep a very deep pantry.
Some of the good prices I found at Sam's club: 2 dozen cage free eggs for $5.98 (At Walmart eggs are $5.22 & up a dozen)
Jif 2 pack 48 ounce jars for $8.12...that's $4.06 for a 48 ounce jar! This was an instant buy sale.
Iceberg lettuce $1.14 each (you had to buy two)
6 pounds of red onion for $6.28....isn't it crazy that this is a great price? It is though, at my local Walmart 3 pounds are $3.98
An eight pack case of Lindsey extra large black olives for $13.58 At the local Walmart you can't buy extra large. * cans of large would cost $19.04. And smaller Great value would be less than the Sam's club price. I decided to get them because they are a staple.
At Walmart I just bought what was on my list...I would have bought it even if it wasn't on sale but I found avocados $2.48 for a bag of 5.
And Starkist Tuna creations tuna salad packs for $1 each! I haven't seen these this low since before covid. My husband takes these to work so I keep them. If I buy Starkist canned tuna the cheapest I can find it right now is $1.08 a 5 ounce can......the salad packs are 3 ounce. So I could still make this cheaper if I bought generic. But $1 a pack for the convenience is a great deal.
So I am still finding some decent prices. The eggs are hardest for us because I buy 4 dozen a week. But we just don't eat very much...my husband only eats two meals a day now...by choice for his health, not because we can't afford to eat. So I'm still able to buy pretty much what my grandson likes to eat when he's here as well. I haven't had any problems at all finding what I want.
I missed you too Cheryl. Yes making something new out of old is so nice!
Have a great day
Jenny, I deleted your message instead of publishing but found it in my inbox. Thank goodness!
You got some great deals too! We have chickens so that saves us on the eggs.
Right now though I only get 2 a day because of the no sun season LOL. Never could come up with that many eggs but I'm able to give daughter a dozen or two when she needs them. I seen that Peanut butter at Sam's that was a great deal. Glad you were able to get that one. The walmart lettuce is a great price and I would buy 2 to get it too!
Have a great day and I hope you comment more!
SO good to see you back! Grocery shopping is an adventure for sure. One sad thing we have been seeing is cartons of eggs with some missing every week so it seems that they are being shoplifted a few at a time. We had to go on a search for frozen broccoli this week. Week after week we just moved it to the next week's list until we were about out. We got a deal on oats this week. I bought five canister of the 18 oz Quaker for 27 cents each after BOGO, cpns and iBotta. That restocked us for a good time to come. I agree that we must keep up with the pantry or we will have to pay who knows what to restock. We are still finding some deals most weeks. Tomorrow we are going to go check out a new to us store who has boneless skinless chicken breasts for 1.69 this week. They are saying the price of chicken is soon going to go where the price of eggs gas gone so I want to get more in the freezer. Have a great weekend!
I've missed you. In this part of "our state" Kroger is much cheaper for eggs. I got 18 at Kroger for a little over a dollar cheaper than a dozen at Meijer cost. Ann
Lana, shopping around for things we love to eat seems to be the newest thing going Lol. I didn't know that about chicken so I'll try to look for a deal as good as that to stock up. Oh my goodness stealing eggs one a time Lana, people are hungry. Its a sad situation for sure.
Ann, Meijer can be costly for sure! Food is like gas you drive around looking for a good price. Missed everyone too..have a good weekend.
Oh Vickie-I missed you. Don't worry about entertaining us. Trust me we aren't bored! I just love to read about what you are doing there. Just the two of us here, but we have a big garden, can alot, and have an upright freezer in our garage. Always shop the sales. And try to plan at least a week ahead. No fast food places around here (well, there is a Subway in town but that's it) so that's not a temptation. Good thing I enjoy cooking (hubby likes to cook too). Prices are crazy. I really feel for families and kids just starting out.
Nancy, just having a subway would fix any addiction i have for out to eat food too. can you imagine having a real big family.. The bill! you would need a big home improvement loan to feed them.
I'm glad you and your husband are cooking. What I hate are the dishes...but I try to think happy thoughts when I do them or leave them till morning. Have a great day!
What a great deal you got on the canned vegetables! I would have stocked up at that price too!
You know Belinda, I'm learning to stock up when I see it that's for sure!
That's weird that my comment came through that way? I'm glad you found it!
We are stocked up and very cheaply. I only buy loss leaders unless I really need something not on sale, and that is not often. It seems like mostly I find what I need. Lately, the loss leaders are few and far between. Well, for things I want or need. There are loss leaders that I don't want to buy and never use.
Jenny, I'm glad I found it too! Have a great day
