Frugal Saturday 8/5/23!

This week, I harvested sage, thyme, rosemary, lavendar, and mint.  I usually just hang them to dry but the sage wasn't drying in my kitchen (too much humidity) so I used the dehydrator.    I also save the dried stalks of the herbs to throw in the fire in the fireplace this winter.  Smells very nice.

We  picked a big mess of green beans from our garden.  Green beans are so delicious fresh.  We also had some sliced tomatoes and cucumbers that we picked!

We went to a subdivision sale on Thursday and bought a lot of clothes for the grand kids.  We will go back this morning to see what we can find.

Eating out and buying drinks, coffee:

We now go to Meijer's gas station to buy our drinks when we are out and about.   Mcdonald's had gotten way too high.  This morning I got my 44 oz diet coke for free with my mperks and he loves their coffee.  So, we were good for $1.05 (including tax).

I'm not going to lie, we eat out usually once a week.  We get it to go unless it's a special occasion.  Here are the ways we found to save while giving me a break for the last three weeks:

We went to the Mennonite Store and they have a deli inside where they make fried and baked chicken.  We both got a meal of 2 pcs of chicken and two sides for $7.99.   We stopped at a roadside park and had a picnic.

Famous Dave's had a special one week for $5.00 you could get a BBQ beef sandwich and a side.  It was very good.

I bought 3 Chicken parmeson Meijer Market dinners for $4.50 a piece through flash food app (half price).   Three minutes to warm up in the microwave and we were good.  If you haven't used flash food before if you spend over $15 you can get a $3.00 credit if you use code VICK36PZH.

What ways have you saved this past week?

Sounds like a good week!
Glad you were able to find some clothes for the grandkids. Yummy on the fresh veggies; nothing tastes better than a homegrown tomato in my opinion. I am going to fix me a BLT for lunch and some fresh salsa to go with my tacos for supper.
Oh I wish we had flash food here. I keep checking, but so far it isn't in my area.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Nothing like fresh green beans. My favorite meal is green beans, corn, sliced tomatoes and a cuke cut up!
The roadside picnic sounds cool. I remember doing those thing - those were great times.

We enjoy eating out too and like you, usually look for a good deal. You found some great ones. I wish we had Flash Food here, but it hasn't come here yet. Hopefully soon though. Half price on the chicken parmesan dishes was great!

Great deal on finding your grandchildren clothes at the yard sales. It's such an easy thing to do when they are growing so much. Sounds like your garden is doing really well too, that helps so much on the food bill.

I hope you have a great weekend, Vickie.

We eat out, too. We look for deals just like you. This week we both had a free Chick fil A sandwich on the app and our location gives free senior drinks. So we bought a large ff and paid to add lettuce and tomato to our sandwiches for a total of $3.85. Then we went across the street to Culver's and got Hubby's free birthday sundae which we shared. That was an exceptional day! We have Panera Sip Club and really enjoy picking up 'free' drinks when we are out. Right now we have a 5.99 a month deal. When that runs out we will wait for them to offer us another discounted deal.

Eating out does give us a rest from cooking but it can be expensive. Sounds like you've found some good deals. I find my most frugal meals are things like rice and black beans, summer tomato salad with red onion and whichpeas, and other means around beans. Since we are vegetarians this works for us. I do enjoy dining out and that is of course more expensive but the vegetarian choices are not outrageous.I get a big salad and spaghetti with marinara sauce and cheese and breadsticks at Olive Garden for 12.99!
