My Frugal Ways this Past Week 4/19/15

Planted leaf lettuce in the open spots in the flower garden. Although the vegetable garden is drying out now, I would like to be able to pick the leaf lettuce many times.  If I plant in the big garden my husband would have to plow around the lettuce or plow it under.   Neither one of us would like that!

There were two free boxes of clothes at church last week.  While carrying the beautiful grand baby I managed to find a skirt with the tags still on (that took skill)!  I will be wearing it to church today.

I cut my own bangs.

I used a $10 off $10 coupon for JCPenney for two pillows and paid a total of $8.00.   We have 4 pillows on the bed when it's made up. We always use two pillows to sleep on and then two pillows stay in the pillow shams.   I took out the rather flat pillows out of the pillow shams and used the stuffing inside to give the couch pillows that were going flat a boost.

I saved the two bags the pillows came in and the large bags that came from the store for garbage bags.

I repaired the lace on the living room curtains.

We made pickled eggs with the brine left over from the pickled bologna jar.   We boiled the eggs and left them in the brine for about a week and half.   My tastes have definitely changed ....I like them.

Bought two spiral hams at Gordon's for 99 cents a pound. I froze both of them for later use

We listened to the deal show on the radio and bought two $25.00 certificates for the meat shop.   You can only buy one certificate a week for this particular meat shop.   It's kind out of our way (makes a nice drive) so we wait till we have a least two.    The deal was a $25 certificate for $18.50.    We also bought a gas station deal!

I made a turkey earlier on this week and we loved the extra dinners.

This is definetly not my best food picture!
Yesterday was in the 70's!   I took advantage of it and grilled out.   I thawed out different meats for make ahead meals during the week.   I love bbq season!   I froze the bbq chicken for the end of the week.

I was able to hang four loads of clothes to dry out in the nice weather we've had this week.

Caught up on all the rewards on Friday night and Saturday morning that I could.   You can see them here (the books may not be free any longer).

What ways have you saved this week?
