My Frugal Ways this Past week,What Was On the Dinner table and My Goals for the Week 5/1/16!

My Frugal Ways this week -Bicycle Plant Holder for just $3.00-Vickie's Kitchen and Garden

We went to a subdivision sale on Friday and found a lot of toys for our grand kids.  My best find for me was this bicycle plant holder for $3.00.  On Saturday husband went back to go to more sales and found a lot of great free stuff at the curb. With the rainy cool weather I think some people were just tired of their sales.

I made sure to bring in the flowers when it came a freeze on Friday night.

Husband and I enjoyed a cup of coffee for free with a sample that came in the mail.

Went shopping at Meijer's early in the week to earn enough for a $5.00 reward for spending $100.00.  We only needed to spend $25.00 more.  We stocked up on Tea Bags, ice cream, and lemonade for the summer.

I also went to CVS and bought some much needed shampoo for a great price.  I'm loving being able to get the great deals here when we go to an appointment in another town.

I bought a brand new flat queen cotton sheet at a garage sale for use as extra material for $2.00.  I was inspired by this post at Strangers and Pilgrims on Earth. to use part of the material to make un-paper towels.  She used flannel though that's for better absorbency (she has a great tutorial).  So far I've used them for polishing and cleaning up spills.

We have had a bout with the flu this past week.  By  Friday thank goodness it was over and we were are all feeling much better.   We ended up having some weird meals but we survived!

What was on the dinner table last week:

Monday            Steak on the grill-(chuck eye on sale for $2.99)

Tuesday            Chicken noodle soup (everyone was sick)

Wednesday       Planned meal -Chicken and Dumplings (I burned it) -unplanned meal Arby's

Thursday          Day off for grandson (he had pizza) we had grilled cheese and soup

Friday               Fried Potatoes and Biscuits (frozen)

Saturday           Helped with the school's garden- quick out to eat Hamburger

Sunday             Daughter is taking us out to eat after to church today as an early Mother's Day celebration.

Goals for next week:

Garden:   I hope to get in my garden more and tackle the weeds.   I also need to mulch and lay some landscaping rocks.

Home:   I have devised a cleaning schedule of sorts. On top of my regular cleaning each day I tackle one extra room and clean something in it that hasn't been done in awhile.  It usually is only a 5 to 10 minute job.  For instance on Friday I cleaned the closet doors in the bedroom (5 minutes)... I was still feeling a little under the weather so I picked the easiest thing to do!  So far I'm impressed with the results and I hope to keep this up.

Crochet more dish scrubbies (for a small Christmas gift).   I didn't get to this last week.

Blog:  Write a book review.  I'm reading The Courtship Basket by Amy Clipston  (I'm loving it).
