I came home from my first Meijer shopping trip, checked the mail, and realized I had some great coupons from them.   So I went twice this week to Meijer, once at the beginning of the week and then again on Friday.

First trip to Meijer on Monday

bananas    $1.28 (these looked so good but the insides were bad.   I think it might have been something to do with our granddaughter riding in the cart),  I'm going to make banana bread with them soon.

Almond Milk $2.49

Cereal 8 boxes-  $2.15 each after sale and coupons

22 cans of White Starkist Tuna   $19.35  ($1.00 can -buy 10 get 1 free- time to stock up)

Oatmeal     $3.59

Oatmeal     $3.89 (gluten free)

4 Jars of Ragu          $.75 each after sale and coupons

Fruit Snacks (she had to have something)  $3.99

Total  $54.80

2nd trip to Meijer on Friday

New bananas       $ .56

2 dozen eggs       $1.58

2 gallons of milk   $1.49 each

2 packages of Koegel's bologna  $4.79 each

Strawberries     Free with coupon

1 head of lettuce  $ .98   (minus a .25 coupon so .73)

Total  $15.43

Kroger (Not shown because it all went to his latest hiding spot):

The husband needed pop so he went to Kroger and bought 4 cartons of Kroger pop for $9.00.   Normally I would count the bottle deposits but he had enough bottle returns to cover that and his potato chips.

Grand total $79.23

We forgot to buy cheese and we are completely out. Everyone will just have to live without it for a few days cause I'm not going back.  It's on the list.

Facts: Some facts that might help you when you look at our grocery tab:

We have a household of 3 adults and the 2 grandchildren are here a lot.

I'm not counting toilet paper, cat food, or that pretty shirt I found at Meijer's for our granddaughter for $2.00 (ha ha).

Prices vary wildly from state to state so for instance our milk may be cheaper or higher than yours.

We live in Michigan.

We don't buy meat every week, when it comes on sale we stock up.

More information Update:

We have a very large garden that I can a lot of vegetables from.

I buy just about all my cleaning products at estate sales for $1 or less a piece except for dish detergent and laundry soap. Sometimes though I have found those there too.

I buy Scott toilet paper on Amazon  and it lasts forever.

I want to keep the grocery bill around $80 a week.

How did you do grocery shopping this week?
