The kids will be here Tuesday and I'm not sure whether they love spaghetti or hot dogs, so I put both on the menu. We love both of them too, so it doesn't matter to us. We are going to a movie that day, so it will be a good day off for them.
Grandson finally spent his money he earned this summer working here and there for us. He ended up with $30.00 and bought a game. I knew that would happen. He is happy and I'm very proud of him for working for us. Little granddaughter just spent hers as she went along. After seeing how much money that brother had saved up, she is going to save now she said.
Today, though we are kid less, so he wants pork chops.. Nothing special, just fried down brown. After a busy weekend, that sounds good to me. Now to go find them in the freezer.
Monday Pork chops, green beans, and sliced tomatoes
Tuesday Spaghetti (kids will be here)
Wednesday. Chicken fajitas
Thursday leftovers
Friday. Chili- I need to make up some of the mix to last us all winter
Saturday. Out to eat
Sunday Hot dogs with Coney Island sauce
What will be on your dinner table this week?

Fried down brown, I love that description because it perfectly describes it. My Dad used to stand at the stove and fry the pork chops and then make the pan gravy while Mom made the rest of the meal. He could fry them so the bone was crispy along the sides. The bone was the best part and only my Dad could make gravy that tasted like his. It was so brown that it just teetered on the edge of being burnt. Yummy!
What I can remember of our menu is White Sausage Linguine, Chili, Hamburger steaks and those are fried brown, baked tilapia, homemade pizza. I like to take the HB steaks out of the skillet and add a can of drained hominy and brown that until it picks up all the good bits from the skillet. That is another of my Dad's things. Dad is still with us but cannot cook anymore. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Such fond memories of your Dad. i wish I could have been at the table with you! I loved reading them!
I think my husband picked up that saying when I was a younger inexperienced cook. He knew nothing about cooking only that they needed to cooked browner than I had them ha ha. Have a great day Lana!
