Back from our Vacation -Menu, Diet, and No Spend for the rest of January!

We are back  from  our vacation to Florida.  We had fun in the sun and the grandkids got to go to their favorite amusement parks.  Youngest went to Disney and the oldest to Universal.  We all went to Sea World and seen the whale show.  What a great time.

Memories to last a lifetime!  I wish I could have took a better picture but they were so far away!

We seen these Herons Sandhill Cranes (thanks Nancy) in  Florida, they don't grow that big in  Michigan ha ha.   We called them Monsters.

We drove for 2 days to get there and 2 days to get back. The grand kids took a plane home with their mom!

We had a blast but I'm so glad to be back and you know what?  My home never looked so good!!   Even the cold and little snow on the ground doesn't bother me!

My Diet:  This morning I'm  starting  my diet off  right with egg cups made with the deli meat we brought back in the coolers.  They were delicious!

I went to the freezer in the garage just now and pulled things out for some of this week's meals.  Pork chops, hamburger, fish, blueberries, and a loaf of bread (we love the bread from Aldi's -not too low carb but not bad)

Menu Plan:'

Monday         Pork chops, canned green beans flavored with my saved bacon grease, and potatoes (for him)!                .

Tuesday         I thawed enough out for today and we will have leftovers and a salad.

Wednesday    We have a lot of sandwich meat we brought back so  we will have that  on  low  carb  hamburger  buns (or a least I will) and soup.

Thursday        Hamburger stew  (1/2 pound of hamburger made with my canned tomatoes, frozen corn, and potatoes)

Friday            Fish and chips

Saturday         spaghetti made with just a half pound of hamburger stretched like I read about on facebook (I'm thinking some oats) and my spaghetti squash.

Sunday           Out to eat (planned birthday)- it was really earlier in the week but we couldn't stand to eat out one more day!

Now about that No Spend January I do every year, I'm 5 days late but I'm going to do it anyway.  We need to save money.. that's for sure!  You can look at the rules I follow here.

So far my grocery list is:

Cottage cheese

Fruit and veggies

Yogurt (cheapest and smallest so I  can find so I can make my own)

Milk

I'm so tired I'm just going to Aldi's and not anywhere else.  I'll look for more deals later.  I'll keep the bill  $40 or lower for the rest of the month.

I'm so glad to be back on the blog with everyone- I'll keep you posted how I do grocery shopping and let me know how you are doing.    Are you doing a no/low spend month?

Be sure to sign up for my daily email list and never miss a post!  You can also follow me on Twitter, PinterestFacebook, and Bloglovin where I share my frugal list, gardening, recipes, Free Kindle books, and more

Glad you had a nice vacation - but you are right. Home is always wonderful to come back to.
Rest up and stay frugal. I am doing the same no spend.

We are from Florida right north of Orlando and Our family is still there. I am so glad you had a great vacation! We are trying to get down there in the next few weeks because Dad is on Hospice care now.
We are not doing a no spend month but we are being careful with the grocery money. We need to do a big Sam's stock up before our membership expires mid February so I need the funds. I will let the membership go until we have to rejoin to get what we use from there. We started a declutter challenge here today. We have to get rid of at least one item everyday for the entire year. It's not huge but I think it will motivate us.

Sunday we had leftover pizza
Monday is Hamburger Meat Pie which is HB and veg in gravy with biscuits baked on top. I was raised on this dish.
Tuesday I am doing a huge pot of meat sauce to retock the freezer so we will have spaghetti
Wed-pork chops and potatoes of some kind, veg and salad
Thursday-mac and cheese with extra for the freezer
Friday-One Pan Greek Lemon Chicken and Rice
Saturday-homemade pizza

At one point in time we lived in Florida. Those birds were everywhere. They have the cutest chicks. The bird in your photograph is not a heron. It is a sandhill crane.

Florida is so pretty and warm! I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad being sick and I pray for your safe travels when you go.
I love your decluttering challenge! Are you able to make any money with some stuff by reselling?
Your hamburger meat pie sounds delicious!
Have a great day

aww we asked and got the wrong information! They are so friendly and came to our patio door every morning. Glad to know what they are thanks Nancy...there were these little white birds too and they have knees like a pink flamingo. do you know what they are?

I looked up the summary. Yes this was the last show of the whales they said. We actually watched the last one! So they are listening to the people -I'm glad.

I think most of our decluttering will be small things. I talked to our missions pastor about the free yard sale you talked about recently and I think we will be doing that in the Spring. I want to save good stuff for that. Our church is in the inner city where people genuinely need basic household items.

I'm trying to get back to eating healthy again too. Aldi carried a low carb bread for a very short time. I wish they'd bring it back!

Sounds like a great time. Happy New Year!

That so neat that your church will be doing the free sale. So nice and kind. Their sale just last a few hours...things go fast. I'm so impressed by them and you for doing that!

I heard there was a lower carb bread than what we use but we haven't seen it at our aldis. It's hard work making myself eat healthy agsin..I hope we both have good luck.
