Our Official school name

We have named our school, Grandma's school.

What was in the school breakfast and lunch

I was so impressed with the grand kids school breakfast and lunch bag.  They were too!  For each one there was 2 little chocolate milks, pop tarts, an apple, a strawberry cup, and a peanut butter and jelly uncrustable.  All foods they love.

That sight of a school bus coming down the road and delivering food though is eerie.  It's like something out of book or a movie I've watched.  This whole thing is just unbelivable.

Get in touch with Nature

Before the grandkids got started on their school work we all on went for a walk in the woods.  I recommend this to everyone if you can do it.  We went to a local trail head where there wasn't a soul in sight.

The kids screamed, ran, watched the ducks and geese and the grownups just let them go.  We even took their dog and he ran with them.  Best thing ever!

So far we are not barred here from going outside as long as we social distance.  I'm going to soak up that blessing as much as I can!

If you want to, leave a comment and let  me  know how everything is  going  in your neck of the woods.

We have 16 cases in our state and four in our county. Our governor has issued that cities need to follow their own guidelines. Our county, the third biggest in the State, has now issues CDC's strict guidelines. Stores are closed early, everything non-essential is pretty much shut down. DH is in construction and is still considered essential. I am not happy about it because of the risk and we both have auto-immune disorders. We do have good immune systems. Praying that will be enough.

I had to go to the hardware store tonight. It was quiet and those who were shopping were being safe. People are not listening. Waffle House was filled to the brim. WalMart looked like a madhouse. DH & I are self-isolating as much as we can.

Oh my the news is not good anywhere. I'm praying that you both will stay well.
The restaurants here have closed inside but they can order or take out. I hope you area does this soon.
I'm confused about the shopping too..so many people! I don't know what they can do about this but someone needs to get their thinking caps on.

We have not left the house for a week now. We can go another week on the perishables we have. We have decided to take a drive today to see if our favorite lake side park is closed. We would be happy to even ride up and park and just enjoy the water from the safety of the car. It is great to have lunches all prepared and of things the kids like! Not sure what the kids are getting here but on the news it showed Styrofoam clam shell containers so may they are still getting hot lunches. They also get breakfast for the next day. I agree that things seem surreal. Every night when I go to bed my brain thinks that when I get up in the morning things will be back to normal but they are not. But, what would normal be now? I'm not sure.

Son 2 local store now limits what you buy and you can not pay for anyone else.He went to the commissary and got some meat for a family of 8 because there is NO meat in the entire county they live in (really people SIGH) Amish have been asked to close their schools and anyone 70 and older to shelter in place. Amish auctions are being canceled. English auctions canceled for 8 wks or more.Hubby is picking up extra hauling jobs as the 70 yr old hauler is now sheltered in place. My mail carrier pulled in and gave me a package. She had gloves on and offered to give me a pair as She advised me to not accept any package without gloves due to this testing and publication https://www.livescience.com/how-long-coronavirus-last-surfaces.html

But how long can the new coronavirus linger on surfaces, anyway? The short answer is, we don't know. A new analysis found that the virus can remain viable in the air for up to 3 hours, on copper for up to 4 hours, on cardboard up to 24 hours and on plastic and stainless steel up to 2 to 3 days. However, this study, which was published in the preprint database medRxiv on Wednesday (March 11), has not yet yet been peer-reviewed.

Best be safe than sorry. We called our Homeschool OWINGS school .... that would have been 1999 thru 2001.

Lana, I often wonder how long it will be when we get back to normal. I'm glad your being safe and the beach sounds so nice.
I love the thoughts of hot meals but So far it's been cold and we've been warming up what they want.

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

Yes your so right, packaging is a worry ..we've been letting the packages stay outside for awhile and we don't get them from the mailman. He just delivers to our door and rings the bell or knocks.
I wondered about the amish.
Aww I love the name of your school too! I wonder how long ours will last.

Taking a walk in the woods every day was one of my favorite parts of homeschooling.

The meal thing is weird to me. I think there are people who really need help but the cost of this is mindbogglingly to me...& how in the world is it paid for? Higher property taxes I assume? Hopefully people turn down help if they don't need to save their community money.

Stay safe & enjoy the time you have with your grandchildren!

Hi Jenny, the children get free meals from the school they go to anyway. The bus drivers are still working so are the helpers. I hear the teachers are packing it but I'm really not sure about that..may be just rumors. I'm glad we are keeping people working instead of unemployment.
The school is closed down except for this operation so electricity is saved. The buses are only going one run so fuel is saved. So i don't forsee no property taxes raised.
You stay safe too!
