Cheap Hamburger!

I was so happy when one of my friends let me know that Kroger had 1 lb packages of hamburger for .99 this week!  I bought 10.  I loved that they are in 1 pound tubes so I could just stick them in the freezer and not have to do anything more with them.  Yep, sometimes I love being lazy.

What I'm Making With It!

Since we have a lot of hamburger already I decided I'd better put more of it in our menu. Here is what I've done so far and what I plan for the next few days:

  • Hamburger stroganoff -Thursday (they went wild over this)
  • Spaghetti-Friday
  • Today it will be hamburger on top of pizza! -Saturday
  • Tacos  - Sunday
  • Hamburgers on the grill -Monday
  • We better have something else on Tuesday I guess.
Have you gotten a great deal on groceries this week?

How's it going in your area?

Wow, what a terrific price on the ground beef! I would have bought ten of them too.

What a great deal!
I'm well stocked on hamburger at the moment too. I bought a pack of portobello mushrooms at Aldi yesterday. So for supper tonight I will brown a little hamburger & stuff the mushrooms to bake.
I'm also roasting some of my tomatoes ...a small batch recipe from the book 'preserving by the pint'. Slow-roasted grape tomato spread. It looks really good so I thought I'd layer the tomato spread then top with ground beef & cheese. If it's good I'll do more batches of roasted tomatoes & freeze it as they come on.

I think I mentioned the free blueberries I got in my grocery pick up? My daughter-in-law is giving me a package of beef tips she got as a substitute in her grocery pick up. Not sure what she ordered but they gave her two large packages & she says they won't eat both of them....we will eat anything, especially any meat. So I'll put it in the freezer & figure out what to do with it eventually.

I'm thinking about taking my grandson to a local orchard this week to pick blackberries & peaches... we'll see.

That's great and so god to stock the freezer! Our discount grocery had 5 pound bags of breaded restaurant chicken tenders for only $1. Sometimes the challenge with these restaurant foods is figuring out to cook them at home since there is no label. This time the cashier told us exactly how her and her Mom cook them and she said they were stocking up too because they are so good. I am excited to have these for quick meals and for chopping up to top salads.

I love the sounds of that spread! I'm going to look up that book too. No tomatoes are ripe here yet but it won't be long.
Sounds like you have a great DIL. Best tips sound delicious.
Have fun if you do get to go out picking!

We are great Lana thanks so much for caring. I should have done a post but I just added a sentence to it explaining about a small summer break. So sorry I always do this wrong.
You are so sweet to care and that makes me feel so goid.
