Our 4th of July Weekend

Saturday

We did grill out on -steak, hotdogs, and hamburgers were on the menu.  I have some hotdogs and hamburgers left over for today's meal.

It's been so hot here that I'm glad I don't have to really cook.  The air conditioners we have are going wide open.  So thankful we have them.

Then a million fireworks went off around our area that night.  We happened to be out for a cool night's drive and we started seeing them.  It was very pretty at first but then I was over it.  We had smoke all over.  It was kind of like, there had been a massive fire.

Sunday

We decided it was time to cut husband's hair.  Well I didn't do so good, the back is fine but the front was terrible.  Oh man, he is such a gracious person and made me feel so much better.  He even had me laughing when he said he would just walk backwards and wear a hat.  Bless him.  I still want to cry about it now (I am).

We still don't want to go the hair salons or barbers.  Hopefully I will get better at hair cutting or this virus will come down soon.  I seriously pray and hope it will be the later.

How's everything going in your neck of the woods?

Once you get the hang of hanging hair - it will be better. Takes a while - then it comes naturally. You will be fine and YES men wear hats a lot!!!!

We drove 2 and a half hours to see our youngest son and his wife over the weekend. It was wonderful to see them since we had not seen any of the kids since Christmas. I'm so sorry about the haircut. I am fortunate that my husband likes his buzzed off to 3/8". Then I just trim him up around the edges. I am afraid it is still going to be a long haul on this virus. Most of my family is in Florida which as you know is the new hot spot.

We were alone for the the 4th...no complaints there...so we enjoyed our first BLTs of the season. We always anticipate the first big garden tomatoes & a BLT. Husband ate his as a lettuce wrap & I used a low carb tortilla wrap. I decided to pop into the the Little Debbie store this morning for a loaf of bread....goodness I do not like going into a store at all. I decided if I was going to eat BLT I needed to do it right.

I feel your pain with the haircuts. It's been so hard. I do not want him going to the barber & he has no desire to go. I keep telling him he should just grow a ponytail but he rolls his eyes at me. Ha! He's been having lots of meetings with the higher-ups at work & teaching more classes(more because they're scheduling very small groups) I hate that his hair looks so bad when he wants to make a good impression right now.

He ordered some clippers from France. They should have come in by now - ugh. So who knows how long it will be before we get them. He said they were half the price of Amazon & he's ordered through Ebay before & felt ok with it. We'll see how it goes. If they don't come in this week I'll have to cut his hair again this weekend with scissors.

So far so good here. I know what you mean about haircuts. I wasn't crazy abut mine the last time I cut t but I figured since I wasn't seeing anyone anytime soon it would be OK. Sounds like you have a sweet hubby to be gracious like that. :)

Lana, I'm so glad you got to see your son and wife. We need family for sure! I'm praying for your family in Florida ...so scary these times.

My husband has me just buzz his head- not shaved like skin but barely any length.

Covid is spreading here like your fireworks smoke, just found out about positive cases that may affect family members-

I started cutting my husband's hair while he was in the Army. So much cheaper than having to pay 10.00 every 2 weeks or so for a regulation hair cut. It didn't hurt that my favorite uncle was a barber - and former Army barber at that - and gave me a few tips. We didn't do a thing for the 4th other than listen to about an hour plus of fireworks from someone down the road from us. Rough on the husband's PTSD. And another Happy Hollisters book. Ann

Aw your husband sounds like a good sport! I'm sure his hair looks fine, and it will grow out before long
My husband wants me to cut his hair, but I'm not brave enough for that. I bought my son some gel so he can slick his hair back if he wants. ;)My daughter puts her hair in a ponytail. I just whack my bangs off when they get too long.
Hope you have a good week.

I hope we both get better at hair cutting. I won't guarantee I will though.
I'm not sure where my clippers came from but it did take awhile. Ive be got scissors, a cape, a brush, the whole mine yards. Just can't cut hair!! LOL

Oh your still one smart cookie..I'm going to buy him some gel to smooth it down. Thanks Kathy.

I need a hair cutting mentor!
Those fireworks are rough. The people and animals have such a hard time.

Oh I wish he would do a buzz cut. I wonder how he would look?
That sounds s scary about the positive cases and family. This stuff needs to get over soon!

Our neighborhood had a huge fireworks display. Two opposite ends of the neighborhood and the fireworks were beautiful. Lots of people put lawn chairs on their driveway to watch. Social distancing, of course. :-)

That sounds so nice Melissa...some of the churches had them. You stayed in your car like a drive in movie. I love our alternatives now.
