Last school year Grandmas school was sprung on us all of a sudden. This year at least I have a few weeks to prepare. One week was getting my mind in gear so I have one week left.
I've been thinking if they are in a more formal like school setting they might like that better. I'm wanting to have a sort of desk for them and some great decorations.

Since my hope is this that this is temporary and will not be necessary in January, I want to spend as little as I can. They love regular school and I hope they are back by then (if not then I love helping them till next school year). So far, I have bought educational posters, bartered for a chalkboard with garden produce with a friend, bought contact paper at the dollar store to redo the top of a folding table, and bought other school supplies that were on sale. My hope is that I can make this space look a little more nice before school starts Monday.
Man I needed to make this space look nice!
How's it going in your neck of the woods?

You are a good Grandma, and I know you will do a great job with your school. I hope it will be a good year.

DeleteI used to set up a classroom when I homeschooled. But over time we used it less & less so I let it go & just organized a spot to keep our supplies. I think you're right though, that it will help your grandkids since they are used to a classroom.
ReplyDeleteI hope school goes well for you this fall.
We're all good here. A little rain today so it's cooler. And I found/was given some fun things this past weekend.
A friend gave ma collapsible pool for my grandson. I think I'll wait until next summer to put it up though. I don't know that I want to bother with it for just a few short weeks.
I also found a cool set of alphabet books for less than $2. They are Dick & Jane style & my grandson loves them.
I'm so glad you got rain. It was all around us but we missed it. The cooler air though feels so much better.
DeleteGreat find on the books!
We are doing well here. I would be so excited if I were you to start Grandma school. I hope you all have the best semester! Or year if it turns out that way.
ReplyDeleteThanks Belinda I was always so excited to start a new school year, I hope they will be too.
DeleteOoh, thank you for sharing your plans for the contact paper. I have a small table with a little spot of water damage and contact paper might cover it perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll both see how it holds up!
DeleteGrandma school sounds like fun. :-) Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteI homeschooled the youngest 2 and a friend and preschooled the grandson. I found that have a bankers box to put their "school" work in helped them shift from school to home and back to school. I tried to keep them to the time frame their teachers did so if they went back (none did ) to school the "sit" time was normal and not an issue. I had music split the morning work and arts and crafts split the afternoon. The biggest problem was not letting them up to go potty when ever.. I had to repeatedly remind them they couldn't just jump when in school. I definitely was thankful after year one of them choosing to continue to homeschool. We had a blast and the routine was all day learning not just books and work sheets.
ReplyDeleteSuch good ideas! I think that's what I need to do, incorporate more music and games in the middle. Wish I knew the schedule but I'll find out soon.
