I have had a weekend of relaxing and working.  I think it was more working than anything else.  You know, work certainly keeps your mind off things.  I cleaned the house because how can any one relax looking at the mass chaos that happened last week?  Then the green beans were calling us out in the garden.  They are done now and we left some on the plants to go towards saving seeds for next year.

I ended up with only 10 quarts of green beans and some shuck beans.  We had a lot of tough hulls. Maybe the heat? Not a great year for beans at all but that happens.

We are still harvesting tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins are getting ready to pick, and we have a bumper crop of mustard greens and turnip greens starting to roll in.

Did you know we can't find canned pumpkin anywhere? Oh it's on Amazon for a price.  Looks like I'll be processing those little pumpkins in the garden instead of carving them!

How's everything in your neck of the woods?

Monday      Green beans, fried cabbage, cornbread, and mustard greens.. (Husband decided this sounded like a gastronomical nightmare so I'm rethinking it this morning-I might have to ditch the fried cabbage and go for the corn I picked) Grand boy is having hot dog.. he won't eat any of the other stuff.

Tuesday.       Sausage, eggs and toast

Wednesday    Spaghetti

Thursday.       Chicken Pot Pie  (didn't make it last week and the youngest daughter has been giving me the evil eye.  I think if I put it together Wed. night I'll be good)

Friday            Left overs

Saturday        Out to Eat

Sunday.         BBQ ribs and baked potato

I haven't looked for canned pumpkin but I did see it in the Lidl ad a few weeks ago for $2.29 for the 15 ounce can. Yikes! I have a half dozen cans so I think I will let that be enough.

Glad you had some relaxing this weekend. My beans were a flop this year. Lots of bloom but few beans.
Yum on the chicken pot pie!
Thanks for the books. I got the cookie one because cookies...and I thought the scrub one was recipes for sugar scrubs, but my house sure needs a good scrub. :)
Have a great week.

It's amazing to me what we find missing on the shelves. I'm glad you were stocked up!

Well I'd better look for pumpkin or buy some to cook myself.

I only have my grandson two days this week. The weekend was fun with him...we walled two different local trails & played in the creek some at one. It was so nice to have a relaxing fun time with him.

I plan to do in person shopping this week to try to find some things on my list that I can never get through pick up: wipes, steak, some OTC medications among other things. I'm going to see what seeds I can find. Garlic for planting is something I have not been able to find at all. Everyone is either sold out or charging astronomical prices. So I'm going to go to Whole Foods & see if I can find some nice organic garlic to plant in October.

No caffeine free Cokes or Pepsi here. This doesn't hurt too bad since we rarely drink it but sometimes you just want a Coke and we don't do caffeine in sodas.

I bought my garlic from MiGardner. We also bought some old time green bean seeds from Appalachia. Hope you find what you need.
That just sounds like a wonderful time with your grandson. We need sometimes just to be grandma!

Love reading about your gardening. :-) Reminds me of the gardens Daddy and I planted when I was a young girl. Mama cooked the vegetables we harvested. :-) Have a great week!

I have Clara's kitchen. Watched her videos her grandson did... wonderful lady.
Draw with magic marker on pumpkins then process. A lot of the squash which includes pumpkins as some don't realize that, rotted in the fields due to not enough water and then too much water. Watermelons and cantaloupes took a hit around here also.

Oh how I love to garden! Sounds like your dad did too!
Have a great week too!

That's what we will do..markers this year on pumpkins..good idea!
That explains a lot about the shortage of canned pumpkin. So many catastrophes.
