Well, Saturday didn't turn out as we hoped.  It was cloudy here but up north they said rain was in the forecast. So, we put off our drive till next week and I hope the colors  stay pretty till we get there!   Sometimes we just have to roll with the tide.

So, we changed in plans and we decided to go to the Amish Store near Brown city/Imlay city MI  and stock up on a few items.  I managed to take a few pictures.

I just missed the little Amish boy that was driving this buggy with his Mom.  He was probably 5 or 6.  The Shetland pony was very good and I could tell that the little boy was super proud of his driving skills.

After we watched this Amish man cutting his grass, I believe my husband was very proud of his lawn tractor!  Of course, they both have upkeep.

There is no electricity in Yoder's discount store.  They have lamps when it's dark and they heat with this wood stove in the winter.  There is a outhouse.

Among other great deals there was a lot of candy for 2/$1.00 and some for 3/$1.00.  We are stocked up and they are hid really well.

Mennonite store

After this we went to the Country View Discount store run by the Mennonites.  Our best deals there were Nathan's hot dogs for $1.99 and the small sliced Smithfield ham's for $1.99 a pound.

Sunday's dinner, ham, soup beans, and cornbread.

FYI: They did have canning jars and they were selling out fast.  There were no lids by themselves though.

Coming back it was a beautiful sight to see the fields being harvested by both the plain and English people.

No. the world didn't tilt..it was the bad photographer on board (me)!  We went by fields and fields of sunflowers.  People were even out there taking pictures with their family.  It was very pretty even though the picture wasn't that great, I still wanted to share with you!

Did you get a drive in this weekend or how is it going in your neck of the woods?

I had to show Hubbly the Amish mower! It is always hard to judge when the best time is to go on a leaf ride. It is still early here but I don't want to miss it!

I think we will be ok. Your right you just never know for sure. If it comes a rain storm they are over.

Please don't take pictures of Amish people. It is against their belief system.

Yes I know that's why the man is so far away. I thought his system of mowing the grass was very interesting.

Do you have the address to the Amish Store? I would like to take a drive there as well.

Oh I wish that rain would come this way. We are so dry here that when the dogs just walk across the yard they kick up dust behind them....that is not an exaggeration!

We had a contractor come out to give a bid on some work. He looked at all the jobs we wanted done:
frame in for a new garage door (we came up with no answers...it's a basement garage & the new doors will not fit) He gave us hope that he can come up with a reasonable plan.
make shutters for the master bath window: I didn't get the remodel last year so we're looking into still making the shutters that I wanted...
reside an outbuilding: he found termites & it's bad. We thought it would be new siding but it may just be a tear down & new building. We need the building. It houses our water well control boxes.

I had a really fun day with the grandson too...even if we didn't get naps.

There is always a project isn't there? I hope you are able to get them accomplished soon. The contractor sounds like a good one.
I'm not sure how you survived without a nap.
