I looked in my food storage and was so sad that someone had decided to eat my semi-sweet morsels.  Then, sadness turned to joy, when I remembered that I had one bag under the bed in a box.  I need to remember to keep valuables in multiple places!

My dilemma then became should I make peanut butter balls or Super Easy Toffee.   Both recipes call for 2 cups of morsels.  Now I was faced with the dilemma of going back to the store filled with people or just make one recipe?   My solution?  I deceided to make 1/2 of each recipe.   I'm making do with what I have.

Tip:  If you have even less than 1/2 of a recipe trying figuring out if you could make 1/4 of a recipe.

Don't worry next time I'm out I'll buy some more morsels and stash them better!

Have you done this?   How's it going in your neck of the woods?

Yum! Glad you can enjoy both.
I had a similar dilemma with cream cheese yesterday. I made ginger snaps and I wanted to make the chocolate chip cream cheese dip, but it called for 3 blocks of cream cheese. So I made 1/3 the recipe. Now I have cream cheese to make my pecan tassie crust, cream cheese to make my cheesy taters, cream cheese to make more dips...Can you tell that I love cream cheese. :)
Enjoy those peanut butter balls and toffee. Yum!

What mart solution to come up with, Vickie. Both of them sound delicious.

That was smart about making 1/2 recipe of each
I decided yesterday I would like some fudge for Christmas but I am a terrible candy maker. I did find a simple recipe that uses baking chips and Eagle Brand and plan to make a batch this afternoon. And save a trip and $$ bu buying fudge at the downtown candy store

Oh everything sounds so wonderful at your house! Absolutely delicious 😋

For the past several years I've only been making a 1/4 to 1/2 batch of most Christmas sweets. We get more variety that way. I'm not a sweet eater anyway - the joy for me is making them. Ann

I guess I'm pretty lucky in that area. Because my husband has diabetes & is very self-disciplined...he never eats my stash. When my son lived at home he was first a picky eater & then a careful eater...he has such a fear of inheriting diabetes he really does not eat enough. He's super thin. So, my stash raider is me! I'm the one who cannot leave it alone.

I usually try to do half or 1/4 of sweet recipes because basically I am the only one who eats them.

I am wishing you were my neighbor since I have a half gallon jar of morsels in my pantry. I do half batches these days too since so many recipes make such a huge amount.

Oh man fudge is so expensive! I'm glad you found a recipe that you had everything for!

After I made it this morning I was thinking it was a good thing to do. I just may do this like you every year!

Yes too many sweets around when it's only you is very bad. It was my youngest daughter who stole my stash. When I was young I probably would have done that too! It seems like though my appetite for that kind of stuff has waned a little bit. I found a new way of making all that good stuff so it worked out great.

I wish I had you husband's self discipline Jenny. I need some.

Oh that would have been so nice to be able to borrow. My neighbor that I'm close too doesn't cook because it's just her most of the time. I can't blame her.

They were very good. I'll try to put some recipes on here soon. I have 2 weeks off from school so I'll find time.

I like your idea of cutting recipes in half. I hadn't thought of doing that. I wanted to mention that I keep chocolate and other flavors of baking chips in my freezer. They keep for a very long time that way. BTW, I also keep Hershey bars in there, too, so they are handy for s'mores and no one thinks to look for them there, so I always have them, if I need them.

Good idea especially love the Hershey bars for smores. Some people like those here too. We have kept candy bars in a cooler in the garage and that's worked. I'll have to try that with some morsels.
