At least once a year we go for broke and fix this old house.  The living room/dining room is our project for this year.

before old fashioned wallpaper and 70's paneling
working on it - he mudded last night (I'm learning new words)

Lava rock for our fireplace was falling off                                                 and needed an update

Working and waiting on it.  Measurements were off and now we are waiting on the corners to come in (our fault).  Hopefully next Wednesday!

The living room/dining room is a mess but it's really going pretty fast.  When he said he could paint the big room all in a day, I hired him.  He is a good guy to work on this for us.  He is a dry wall perfectionist.  No you can't have him ,.,,

Stay tuned.

Sounds like he is a great worker, and I know you will love your new living room! Can't wait to see pictures when it is finished. Glad it is going quickly though.
My hubby finished part of our basement into a family room, and I remember that drywall stuff. Sanding it is awful though, and there was dust everywhere. But it is worth it!

Looking good! You will be so glad you did it!

Maybe put some plastic or sheet over the doorway going to your kitchen to cut down on the dust everywhere. But maybe your guy will be able to keep the sanding dust down better than my hubby. ;) I know it will be great when it is finished.

Yes coming back tomorrow and I'll be sure and do that! I think there is no getting around the dust. Thanks kathy.

It's going to be so nice! Can't wait to see it.

We're thawing out. My husband has spent a lot of time this week working on water pipes, plus his full time job plus trying to figure out why our invisible fence stopped working.

Wow, good for youz! Looks great!
We need carpeting on our second floor but it seems daunting. Where to store a loft and two bedrooms full of stuff while that happens? We did get new carpeting a couple years ago on first floor and moved everything out, but upstairs, yikes.

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

I think we would have to hire movers if we had an upstairs cause this is a job with the dinning room and living room. I can't imagine.
The sofa is going out the window..just how it came in. ha ha. I'm thinking new sofa if we have any money left.
