Our Anniversary Trip and the Menu Plan for 4/5/22!

Our 43 wedding anniversary was this past month.  We got the chance to escape by ourselves and went to Holmes county Ohio. The scenery is just beautiful and it was some place we had never been before.  Just in case you haven't heard of it there are many Amish that live there. It's even called Ohio's Amish Country.

First place before we went too far was Lehman's.  I've heard about this store over and over so I was excited to go and have the experience.  They have everything you need there to go off grid or live simply, gardening supplies, and more! Very interesting to say the least. We also visited the Smucker's store (it's a bunch of good jelly) LOL.

It was some crazy driving there though.  Pray hard before you merge into traffic and don't forget to pray for others too.

Berlin, Ohio is up the road and to me it's kind of like a Frankenmuth MI of Ohio.  We had to wait it the car for the snow to calm down at times.  I was not thinking that there would be snow when I booked this trip. Not thinking at all. When it finally calmed down enough where it wouldn't hurt our faces, we got out and walked around to lots of stores. We bought some wonderful cheese, some Amish noodles, I bought a new broom (say what you want ha ha), and he bought a leather belt. We are weird.

You know we didn't even get started seeing everything so we will be back to see some more (when it's warmer). It's been a wonderful 43 years!

Sunday:       Out to eat (daughters treat)

Monday:      Steak/onion and cheese wraps (low carb wraps)

Tuesday:      Baked chicken (Sam's), mashed potatoes, and pinto beans

Wednesday:  Fried Pork Chops and pinto beans

Thursday:     Chicken  noodle soup

Friday           Tacos

Saturday       Roast with the fixins- it's on my mind there is a roast in the freezer.  I guess I need to do inventory!

Sunday          Leftovers

Breakfasts:  eggs, Fried bologna, or oats

Lunch, you are on your own.

According to how much energy and time I have this menu could change at any time (sometimes it's much to the delight of my husband). Looks good though doesn't it?

What's on your menu?

Happy Anniversary! We visited Lancaster PA some years ago and loved it. I would love to go to Lehman's! Your menu does look good!

I have always found it kind of comical that there is store - where you go buy what you need to live simply!!! LOL.
Glad you had a good time.

I never thought of it like that! So funny! You know they had wringers for wringer washers, some kind of washing machine that you make work with swing arm action (your arms), wood stoves, things like that. So you got to find them somewhere. Me, I kind of like living on grid and hope we can continue that LOL!

As I sit here living amongst the Amish laughing... it snows off and on in Ohio until about mid May. I've had offers for my electric wringer washer. Traffic in Amish country can get really bad especially when following buggies who don't use turn signals or lights. Hubby has been to a couple Amish auctions (he hauls for the Amish),he is now looking for a small wood stove that can be used for cooking if necessary.

Apparently I need to research the weather when visiting other places in March but we loved every minute. That traffic was scary..we were almost run over by a truck heading to Berlin. I would hate to be in a buggy ..they must pray for safety and then refuse to worry.
You know that's a good idea about a small wood stove for cooking. Hope he finds one.

We bought a small wood stove for Y2K and have never had need of it for 22 years but it is here if we ever need to ring it in and use it. It is comfort to know we have it if push comes to shove.

Lana I think it's it just might be a good purchase..who knows this may be the year we need one.

Happy Anniversary! Trip sounds fun-too bad about the weather. We still have snow on ground and it's cold-but we do have a couple of robins and today saw some red winged blackbirds so I am thinking positive that spring will come! We do have some Amish communities south of us-I always worry when I see their buggies on the road and pray that the cars pay attention.

Maybe Spring will come, sounds like you getting your first signs. Somedays, I still have my doubts Ann. It was warm here today..no snow, we saw the sun believe it or not. The next few days though sounds like a lot of rain.
Some wonderful things can be found in Amish communities. I just wish that there were safer ways for their buggies on the roads. You come up on a hill and here they are. Prayers are needed for them for sure.
